Sparkling Chevrons!

I saw THIS lovely card from Houses Built of Cards one day recently when I was browsing through the beautiful samples at Splitcoast Stampers. I knew immediately that I just HAD to case this using Stampin’ Up supplies!

  • Stamps: Positively Chevron, Sweet Essentials, Woodgrain
  • DSP: Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana
  • Card Stock: Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
  • Ink: Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, Versamark
  • Accessories: Bitty Banners Framelits, Rhinestones, Stampin’ Sponge, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy, Post It Note, Stampin’ Dimensionals

To make this card start off by cutting a piece of Whisper White card stock 4” x 5-1/4”. Stamp the Positively Chevron background stamp across the bottom portion of the card stock at an angle in Versamark ink. Now pour on some Iridescent Ice embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat it with your Heat Tool. Place the sticky part of a Post-It Note right along the edge of the embossed chevrons. Now take a couple Stampin’ Sponges and starting from the outside edge then working your way toward the middle sponge on Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana ink.

Now pull off the post it note. Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana card stock 1/2” x 5”. Stamp the card stock with the Woodgrain background stamp in Coastal Cabana ink then adhere it onto the card front along the edge of the embossed chevrons.

Actually I just had this scrap of Coastal Cabana card stock on my table. I didn’t even notice that it was stamped with the woodgrain until after I had the glue on the back and was beginning to adhere it on the card stock. I guess it was just meant to be huh?

Next stamp the greeting from Sweet Essentials in Strawberry Slush ink onto the top portion of the Whisper White card stock at an angle. I got a smudge on the top of the Whisper White card stock (Grr!) so I had to figure out a way to cover it up. To fix this blooper I decided to add a couple patterned banners.

Then take two scraps of DSP (Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana used here) and run them through the Big Shot with both the straight banner framelits from the Bitty Banners set. Adhere the two banners together with 2-Way Glue Pen, then adhere the banners onto the card stock with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Use Paper Snips to trim the ends of the banners even with the Whisper White card Stock.

Finally adhere the Whisper White card stock layer onto the card front with some glue stick then add the trail of Rhinestones. That’s it! So bold and so sparkly!
