Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Everyone! I spent some time this weekend cleaning up my craft room and sorting through my scraps and getting everything organized again. As a result I found a few scrap pieces that were left over from a few previous projects. So I decided to put them to use to make one more Halloween card. Take a look:

  • Stamps: Wicked Cool, Delightful Dozen
  • DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone
  • Card Stock: Basic Gray, Basic Black, Lucky Limeade, Vellum
  • Ink: Basic Gray, Versamark, Basic Black
  • Accessories: Beautiful Butterflies Die, 1/2” Circle Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Silver Glimmer Paper, Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, 3/4” Circle Punch, Paper Piercer, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, Stampin’ Dimensionals, bleach, paper towel, plastic container, paint brush, Stazon Re inker, 2-Way Glue Pen, Silver Mini Brads, Glue Dots, Versamarker (retired)

Here is the SCCSC143 sketch that I used on this card. It was created by Susie Nelson:

I used a few different techniques on this card and all put together it resulted in a really fun Halloween card! I started off by cutting a piece of Basic Gray card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. I folded up a piece of paper towel and placed it in the bottom of a plastic container then poured on just a little bit of bleach. I inked up my bats stamp from Wicked Cool with the bleach and stamped it onto my Basic Gray card front. Then I cleaned my stamp on another paper towel. You want to be very careful when stamping with bleach to make sure that you don’t end up bleaching any of your ink pads.

After the bleach was completely dry on my card front I stamped the bats again in Basic Gray ink. Next I cut a piece of Basic Black card stock 2-1/2” x 5-1/2”, two pieces of DSP 1-3/8” x 2-1/4”, and one piece of DSP 2-1/4” x 2-1/4”. I adhered the narrower pieces of DSP onto the outside edges of the Basic Black card stock first. Then I adhered the larger piece of DSP between the two. This makes it easier to get the spaces between the three panels even.

Now for the Glimmer Paper. I took a small piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and colored the glimmer paper dark gray by mixing a few drops of Black Stazon Reinker with a few drops of rubbing alcohol and painting it on with a paint brush. I just allowed this to dry and then cut two pieces 1/8” x 2-1/4” and adhered them between the DSP panels with 2-Way Glue Pen.

I had the Vellum circles with the bats left over from my Witch’s Cottage Luminary tutorial, but to make them simply stamp the bats from Wicked Cool onto a piece of Vellum in Versamark ink, cover the stamped image with Black Embossing Powder, and heat with the heat tool. Then just punch out the bats with the 3/4” circle punch. Place the circle onto the outer DSP sections and use a Paper Piercer and Stampin’ Pierce Mat to pierce a hole in the top and bottom of the circle. Add a Silver Mini Brad into each hole and spread the prongs onto the back.

Next I stamped the greeting from Delightful Dozen onto a scrap of Lucky Limeade card stock and used my Decorative Label Punch to punch out the greeting. I adhered the label behind the Basic Black/DSP layer. Then I adhered this layer onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now for the bat! This bat was left over from a make and take project that I shared with you yesterday. I just used my Versamarker to draw some lines from the center out to the points of the bat wings, covered the marker ink with Black embossing powder, and heated it with my heat tool. Then I took another 1/8” wide strip of gray Glimmer Paper and adhered it into the center of the bat and trimmed the glimmer paper that stuck out past the edge of the Basic Black card stock with Paper Snips. I folded the bat wings in just a little bit to give it some dimension and adhered the bat onto the center DSP panel with a couple Glue Dots.

A little labor intensive if you don’t already have some of the pieces lying around, but I was able to use up some scraps and came up with a pretty fab Halloween card!

I hope you and your family have a safe and happy Halloween!

Just Batty!

Hello everyone! I have another Halloween card to share with you! This one is definitely unique and it comes with a short tutorial! It was the Halloween card that my guests made at the October Make and Take. Take a look.

  • Stamps: Wicked Cool
  • Card Stock: Basic Gray, Rich Razzleberry, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Lucky Limeade, Basic Black
  • Ink: Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
  • Accessories: Window Frames Framelits, Beautiful Butterflies Die, 2-1/2” Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Snips, 1/2” Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Glue Dots

Here’s a tutorial for you so you can create a card with a window:
1. Cut a piece of Basic Gray card stock 4-1/4” x 8-1/2” and score it at 4-1/4”.
2. Cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock 4-1/8” x 4-1/8”.
3. Stamp the bats from Wicked Cool all over the Rich Razzleberry card stock in Basic Gray ink.

4. Cut out the larger window with the 3rd from smallest Window Frame framelit. Make sure the framelit is centered on the stamped Rich Razzleberry card stock.

You can use a Post-It note to hold the die in place while you run it through the machine. Set aside the center piece of card stock.

5. Adhere the outside Rich Razzleberry piece onto the card front.

7. Cut out the smaller window with the 2nd smallest Window Frame framelit. Center the framelit inside the Rich Razzleberry window.

You can use a Post-It note to hold the die in place while you run it through the machine.

7. Sponge around the inside of the window with Basic Gray ink.

8. Use the 2-1/2” Circle Punch on a scrap of So Saffron card stock. Sponge around the edges of the circle with Pumpkin Pie ink. Stamp the greeting from Wicked Cool onto the bottom of the circle in Basic Black ink. Adhere the circle onto the center piece from the Rich Razzleberry card stock with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

9. Cut a piece of basic Black card stock 2” x 2-1/2”. Run this through the Big Shot on the Beautiful Butterflies die to cut out the smallest butterfly.

10. Fold the butterfly in half.

11. Punch the sides of the wings with a 1/2” circle punch several times along the edge of the wing.

12. Unfold the butterfly. Now you have a bat!

13. Adhere the bat onto the So Saffron circle with a Glue Dot. Adhere the circle with the bat onto the piece of Stamped Rich Razzleberry card stock that you cut out of the center in step 4.

14. To adhere the bat panel inside the card with it centered in the window do the following: apply glue onto the backside of the Rich Razzleberry window frame. Hold your card front in your hand with back open. Hold the window frame behind the card front so the circle is centered in the window frame.

15. Keep the window frame in place while you close the back of the card with your other hand. Press in place really well.

16. Apply Silver Dazzling Details around the Rich Razzleberry window frame.

17. Make your pumpkin. Use the 1” Circle Punch three times on a scrap of Pumpkin Pie card stock. Sponge the edges of all three circles with Pumpkin Pie ink.

18. Use 2-Way Glue Pen to adhere two circles behind one circle. Cut a small strip of Lucky Limeade card stock and adhere it behind the pumpkin for the stem. Adhere the pumpkin onto the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Now you have an absolutely spooktacular Halloween card!

Witchy Owl Pillow Box

Halloween is right around the corner so I thought it would be cute to decorate a pillow box to fill with spooky treats.

  • Stamps: None!
  • DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone, Rich Razzleberry stripes, Sahara Sand stripes
  • Card Stock: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Soft Suede, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry
  • Ink: None!
  • Accessories: Pillow Box Die, 1-1/4” Square Punch, Striped Satin Ribbon, Oval Punch, Pennant Punch, Owl Punch, 2-Way Glue Pen, Sticky Strip, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I started off with a 4-3/4” x 5-1/2” piece of Basic Black card stock that I ran through the Big Shot on my Pillow Box die. Next I cut a piece of Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP 2-1/2” x 4-3/4”. I adhered this in the center of the pillow box shape and folded on all the score lines. I applied Sticky Strip just to the narrow tab in the middle and adhered it behind the other side to form a tube. Then I folded in the end flaps and tied a piece of Striped Satin ribbon around it to hold the box closed.

I punched the Owl from Basic Gray card stock, the large eyes from Whisper White, the medium eyes from Lucky Limeade, and the small eyes from Basic Black. The belly was punched from Rich Razzleberry striped DSP. I used the Large Oval punch and the Petite Pennants Builder punch for the witch’s hat. I adhered all the owl pieces and hat pieces together with 2-Way Glue Pen. I cut a scrap of Rich Razzleberry card stock down to 1/8” wide and adhered it onto the pointy part of the witch hat for a hat band and used Paper Snips to trim the card stock strip even with the edges of the hat.

Now for the broom. I cut a piece of Soft Suede card stock 1/2” x 3”. I used the 1-1/4” Square Punch on a piece of Sahara Sand striped DSP. Next I  used Paper Snips and cut the Sahara Sand DSP about 3/4” the way up all along the length to make fringe. I adhered the solid end of the DSP onto the end of the Soft Suede strip and wrapped it around the strip until I got to the end of the Sahara Sand square. Then just adhered the end in place. I used a scrap of Lucky Limeade card stock and cut off a 1/8” wide strip and adhered it around the top of the broom bristles for a band. Now just fluff out the fringe and adhere the broom under the owl. I adhered the owl onto the pillow box by putting 1/2 a Stampin’ Dimensional behind the band on the broom and one dimensional on the owl’s bottom. Remove the Stampin' Dimensionals liner and stick your witchy owl on the box.  You’re done!

So stinkin’ cute! Although this one took a little longer it was definitely a hit at the Make and Take! What do you think?

Happy Halloween Friday Mashup 82!

Yay! It’s Friday! That means there is another fun Friday Mashup challenge to play along with. I have a fun Halloween card to share with you today! Take a look:

  • Stamps: Seasonal Sayings, Out on a Limb (retired), Wicked Cool
  • DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone
  • Card Stock: Basic Gray, Basic Black, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Black Stazon, Versamark, Basic Gray
  • Markers: Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, Pink Pirouette, Blender Pen, Pumpkin Pie
  • Accessories: 2-1/2” Circle Punch, Paper Snips, Black Embossing powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Silver Glimmer Paper, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Stampin’ Sponge, paper towel, plastic container, bleach

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project with a "Witch".
  2. Or Make a project using "Bleach".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with a "Witch using a Bleach Technique".

I had so much fun adding details to this card! I started off with a piece of Basic Gray card stock cut 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. Next I folded up a paper towel and placed it inside a plastic container. Then I dribbled a little bit of bleach onto the paper towel. You don’t really need a whole lot for this. I tapped the bats stamp from Wicked Cool into the bleach soaked paper towel and stamped the image onto the card stock. I just kept stamping using the bleach as my ink until the entire card front was covered with splotchy bats.

Next I cut a piece of Howlstooth and Scaringbone polka-dot DSP 1” x 5-1/2” and adhered it onto a 1-1/2” x 5-1/2” piece of striped DSP. This was adhered onto the card front. For the greeting I stamped the image from Seasonal Saying into the bottom left hand corner of the card front in Versamark ink. I covered the stamped image with Black embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with my Heat Tool until the image was shiny. I sponged around the edge of the entire card front with Basic Gray ink to make the edges look shadowy.

I cut a piece of Basic Black card stock 1-1/2” x 4” and used Paper Snips to cut one end into a dove-tail shape. Now for the witch. I stamped the moon from Out on a Limb onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and stamped the broom well below the moon in Black Stazon ink. I punched this out with the 2-1/2” Circle Punch. I stamped the lovely witch on another scrap of Very Vanilla card stock in Black Stazon in. To color in the witch’s face and hands I colored my Pink Pirouette marker onto a stamp block and picked up just a little bit of color with a Blender Pen to add the color to the stamped image. I also used this technique to color in the witch’s hair with Daffodil Delight and the moon with a combination of Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie.

The witch’s stockings were colored in with Rich Razzleberry and Lucky Limeade. I also used Rich Razzleberry on the inside of her hat. I colored in the broom with Crumb Cake and the bands on the broom with Lucky Limeade. Then I used Paper Snips to very carefully cut out the witch. I used 2-Way Glue Pen to adhere a 1/8” wide strip of Silver Glimmer Paper onto her hat and trimmed the strip even with the edges of the hat. I glued the witch onto her broom with 2-Way Glue Pen. I adhered the circle that the witch is on onto the top of the Basic Black pendant. The pendant was adhered onto the card front with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now for the fun part! I made it look like the witch was casting a spell by applying Crystal Effects in swirls on the card front and covered it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. After making the card I realized that you could do the same thing with Dazzling Details if you want. But I love how this turned out!

If you have a chance head on over to the Friday Mashup and play along!

Jack O Lanterns!

Good morning everyone! It’s getting closer and closer to Halloween so I thought I would share with you a Halloween card that I made for someone special. Take a look!

  • Stamps: Jack of All Trades, Delightful Dozen
  • DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone
  • Card Stock: More Mustard, Basic Black, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Basic Black, Gumball Green
  • Accessories: Paper Snips, Gumball Green marker, Spider Web embossing folder, Dazzling Details, Stamping Sponge, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Striped Satin ribbon

I started off with a piece of More Mustard card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. I cut a piece of Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP 2” x 5-1/2”. I adhered this onto a 2-1/4” x 5-1/2” piece of Basic Black card stock. I placed this on top of the card front and stamped the greeting from Delightful Dozen onto the card front above the panel in Basic Black ink. I set aside the DSP panel and ran the card front through the Big Shot in the Spider Web embossing folder.

Next I adhered the DSP panel onto the card front and wrapped a piece of Striped Satin ribbon around the card front and tied it into a knot. I stamped the pumpkin images from Jack of All Trades onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock in Pumpkin Pie ink. I stamped the faces onto the pumpkins in Basic Black in and the stems in Gumball Green ink. I didn’t get the stems all the way against the top of the pumpkin so I used my Gumball Green marker to fill in the bottom of the stem. Then I cut out the jack-o-lanterns with Paper Snips and adhered them onto the card front with a couple Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To make the spider web stand out more I added some Dazzling Details onto the raised texture. This really makes the web stand out. Not to mention I just like adding sparkle to my cards!

So what do you think?
