Woodgrain Sympathy

A while ago my best friend asked me to make a couple of sympathy cards for her. They always are the hardest ones to make and I don't make them often. But here is the first one I came up with. I will share the second one later today.

  • Smoky Slate card stock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
  • Whisper White card stock 4" x 5-1/4"
  • Pool Party card stock 3-3/4" x 5"
  • Bermuda Bay card stock 1-1/2" x 5"
  • Basic Black card stock 1/2" x 5"
  • Stamps: Woodgrain, So Sorry
  • Ink: Smoky Slate, Pool Party
  • Accessories: Scallop Edge Border Punch, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Stampin' Dimensionals, retired brads

Start off by folding the Smoky Slate card stock on the score line. Now take the Pool Party card stock and stamp the Woodgrain background image in Pool Party ink. I know this background stamp is retired, but I love it so much I still use it anyway. Now glue this layer onto the large piece of Whisper White and glue the panel onto the card front.

Next use the Scallop Edge Border Punch on both long edges of the Bermuda Bay card stock. Glue the Basic Black card stock onto the scalloped Bermuda Bay card stock then glue this onto the card front.

Now take the small piece of Whisper White card stock and stamp the greeting from So Sorry in Smoky Slate and Pool Party ink. Cut out the greeting with the Apothecary Accents framelit in the Big shot. Next use the Paper Piercing Tool and Stampin' Pierce Mat to add a hole in each end of the label and add a retired Pool Party brad on each end. Stick the label onto the card front with a few Stampin' Dimensionals and you're done!
