Indigo Birthday and Friday Mashup 72

It’s Friday again! TGIF! I have another Friday Mashup challenge to share with you. But first, take a look at the card I created:

Stamps: Sassy Salutations

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:

Make a project with "the Sketch."
Or Make a project w/ a "flower or multiple flowers"
Or "Mash it Up" and create a project w/ "the Sketch and a flower or multiple flowers"

I rotated the sketch for my card because I just had to use the Sassy Salutations stamp set that just came in. It’s such a fun and funky set of greetings! I started off by cutting a piece of Island Indigo card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scoring it at 4-1/4”. Then I took a piece of Festival Prints DSP and cut it down to 4” x 5-1/4” and adhered it onto the card front. I cut a length of Lucky Limeade ruffled ribbon and adhered it around the card front with SNAIL Adhesive. I adhered it in place so that the seam of the ribbon would be underneath the greeting panel.

Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 1-3/4” x 3-1/2” and stamped the greeting from Sassy Salutations in Island Indigo ink. This was adhered onto a 2” x 3-3/4” piece of Lucky Limeade card stock before being adhered onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now all that’s left is the flower! I used the Blossom punch on another pattern of Festival of Prints DSP to cut out two flowers. I also punched out a Scalloped Circle and the largest flower from the Boho Blossoms punch. I used Paper Snips to cut between each of the scallops on the scalloped circle not quite all the way to the center. Then I used my Stampin’ Sponge to sponge Island Indigo ink around the edges of all my flowers.

I used my Bone Folder to curl the petals on all my flowers and then adhered them all together in a stack. I added a Vintage Faceted Designer Button into the center of the flower with a Glue Dot and adhered the flower into the center of the card with a couple Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Birthday Butterflies

There have been a few birthdays lately in my family, so I need yet another birthday card. This one was for someone who really likes pink. Can you tell?

Stamps: Papillion Potpourri, Beautiful Birthday
Card Stock: Primrose Petals, Whisper White
DSP: Primrose Petals
Ink: Primrose Petals, Versamark
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Delicate Butterfly Punch, Glue Dots, Pearls

This card was quick and easy to put together, which is good, because I was running out of time. I’m sure you’re thinking “why don’t you just use one of your past Make and Take cards?” Well…I would, but by Mom, aunt, and sister come to each Make and Take that I have. That means that they have all the same cards too. So if I give a make and take card, it is very likely the recipient will get two of the same cards when it’s for a family birthday. So that means I have to make a unique card each time a family birthday comes along. Anyway…on to the card!

I started off with a piece of Primrose Petals card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. I cut a piece of Primrose Petals polka dot DSP 2” x 5-1/2”. I stamped the greeting from Beautiful Birthday onto the DSP in Versamark ink. I covered the stamped image with Gold embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with my Heat Tool. This was adhered onto a 2-1/4” x 5-1/2” piece of Whisper White card stock and then this layer was added to the card front.

Now for the butterflies! I stamped two butterflies in one pattern and one butterfly in another pattern from Papillion Potpourri. I just love the fun different patterns for the butterflies in this stamp set! I punched out the butterflies with the Delicate Butterfly punch and adhered them onto the top portion of the card with Glue Dots. To add a little bit of sparkle I added some pearls to the center of each butterfly.

Simple, and definitely pink, but it works! What do you think?

Forever and Always

Good morning! Today I have the fourth and final card from the June Make and Take to share with you. This one featured the new Betsy’s Blossom stamp set and the new Large Scallop Edgelit.

Stamps: Betsy’s Blossoms, Loving Thoughts
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Pool Party
Ink: Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Midnight Muse
Accessories: Large Scallop Edgelit, Delicate Designs embossing folders, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals

For the Crumb Cake card base I cut the card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. With these coordinating embossing folders and Edgelit you want to cut the edge first and then emboss. So I cut the bottom of the card front with the Large Scallop Edgelit then ran the card stock through the Big Shot again in the Delicate Designs embossing folder.

Now that the bottom had a pretty detail the top needed something so I stamped the blossom from Betsy’s Blossoms all over the top of the card front in Crumb Cake ink. Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 1” x 5-1/2” and stamped the greeting from Loving Thoughts on the right side of the strip in Pool Party ink. I adhered this onto a 1-3/4” x 5-1/2” piece of Pool Party card stock and then adhered the layer onto the card front.

I stamped the bird from Betsy’s Blossoms onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Midnight Muse ink. I cut around the shape with Paper Snips and adhered the bird to the left of the greeting with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Simple and easy yet pretty! I love these embossing folders and that large scallop edge!

Well… I’m off to try to organize my craft room a little more so maybe I can find something when I need it! I’ll make sure to share the result of my efforts in the near future. Are you working on any organizing projects?

Banners and Stripes Birthday

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to share with you the third project from the June Make and Take! Each month I make sure to include one masculine card in the Make and Take projects. This helps give my guests ideas on how to create the oh-so-difficult masculine card. I really is hard to create something for a guy when you want to reach for ribbon, or rhinestones, or bright girly colors like pink! So here is the card that we made:

Stamps: Woodgrain, Memorable Moments
Card Stock: Basic Gray, Basic Black, Whisper White, Gumball Green
DSP: Midnight Muse
Ink: Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Basic Gray
Accessories: Bitty Banners Framelits, Labels Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, Paper Piercer, Silver Brads

This card started off with a piece of Basic Gray card stock cut 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. I used my all-time favorite background stamp, Woodgrain, with Basic Gray ink to add some pattern to the card base.

Next I cut a piece of Midnight Muse DSP 2” x 5-1/2” and adhered it onto a 2-1/4” x 5-1/2” piece of Basic Black card stock. I stamped the label frame from Memorable Moments onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Gumball Green ink. I stamped the greeting from Memorable Moments inside the frame in Midnight Muse card stock. Here is a little tip, when stamping the greeting like this where it’s two individual stamps put both stamps onto the block at the same time. That way you can line up the text so the bottom word is parallel with the top word. Then you only have to worry about trying to get it straight with the label once.

I cut out the stamped label with the Labels Frameilts in the Big Shot and adhered it onto the striped DSP with a couple Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut a scrap of Gumball Green card stock with the large straight banner from the Bitty Banners Framelits. I cut the banner in half with Paper Snips and adhered the banner halves on either side of the label. Next I used my Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Paper Piercer to pierce a hole at the end of each banner piece and added a Silver Brad. Then I adhered this layer onto the card front.

I always seem to reach for blue or green when creating a masculine card. Or some kind of neutral like Basic Gray or Crumb Cake. I find it harder to make a masculine card from brighter colors. I don’t know why. I will have to push myself out of my comfort zone next time I create a masculine card. What do you struggle with the most when creating manly projects? Do you have any good tips?
