Vintage Christmas Friday Mashup 70!

Good morning! It's Friday and I have another Friday Mashup challenge for you! This one is actually on time!  Since getting my Holiday Catalog goodies I have been having the best time playing with some of my new toys! Take a look at this vintage Christmas card. I absolutely LOVE it!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:

1. Make a project with a "Stick Pin on it."
2. Or Make a "Vintage" project.
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Vintage project with a Stick Pin on it."

I once again combined the Friday Mashup challenge with a sketch challenge from Stampin' Connection. This time it was the SCCSC130. Here is the sketch that was created by Liz Goldhawk: 

I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock cut at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4". I sponged around the edges of the card front with Soft Suede ink and a Stampin' Sponge. Next I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 4" x 4-1/4". I stamped the En Francais background onto the Very Vanilla card stock in Crumb Cake ink. Then I sponged around the edges of the card stock with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede ink and a Stampin' Sponge.

I really wanted to use the new Holiday Frame embossing folder and it seemed perfect for this sketch! So I ran the Very Vanilla card stock through the Big Shot in the Holiday Frame embossing folder. Then I used a Sponge Dauber to sponge Soft Suede ink onto the raised texture to really make the pattern stand out. The Sponge Dauber makes it easy to control where you're applying the ink so you get mostly just the raised texture. Finally I adhered the now vintage looking Very Vanilla card stock onto the card front.

I used the XL Oval Punch on some of the new Champagne Glimmer Paper and adhered the sparkly oval onto the center of the textured oval with Stampin' Dimensionals. Now for the ornament. I stamped the ornament from Ornament Keepsakes onto a scrap of Cherry Cobbler card stock in Versamark ink, covered the stamped image with gold embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with the heat tool. Then I cut out the ornament with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits in the Big Shot. 


I used the Sponge Dauber again to sponge some Soft Suede ink on the bottom and sides of the ornament to give it some dimension. The ornament was adhered onto the Champagne Glimmer Paper oval with a couple Stampin' Dimensionals. 


Finally I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon about 18" long and tied it into a bow. I used the pin and beads from the Pretties Kit that retired a few years ago and inserted the pin through the bow, finished adding the beads and the pin cap and then adhered the bow onto the card front with several Glue Dots. 


This is definitely a card you would not send through the mail, but it is pretty! Have you ever finished a project and been so happy with the end result that you squealed and did a little happy dance? Well that was the case for me on this one!

Thinking of You

Good morning! I hope you’re having a fabulous week so far! I have another sketch challenge card to share with you that I made quite a while ago, take a look!

• Ink: Pool Party, Midnight Muse
• Accessories: Whisper White Stitched Grosgrain ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, Paper Piercer, Brights Glimmer Brads, Paper Snips, 1-3/8” Circle Punch, Mini Glue Dots

Here is the sketch that was created by yours truly:

I had a lot of fun with this sketch and playing more with Summer Starfruit. I just can’t get enough of this color, especially when paired with Pool Party!

I started off this card by cutting a piece of Summer Starfruit card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scoring it at 4-1/4”. Then I cut a piece of Pool Party card stock 1” x 7-1/4” and adhered it at an angle across the card front. I used my Paper Snips to trim off the Pool Party that stuck out past the edge of the card front.

Now for the interesting part… I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 1-3/8” x 3-5/8”. I stamped the greeting from Curly Cute by first inking up the stamp with Pool Party, then touched just the bottom portion of the stamp onto the Midnight Muse ink pad before stamping onto the Whisper White card stock. This gave me the great faded look to the text. Cool huh? Just make sure you ink up first in the lighter color, then the darker color. That way you won’t mess up your ink pads.

I adhered the greeting onto a 1-1/2” x 3-3/4” piece of Midnight Muse card stock. I used the 1-3/8” Circle Punch to punch two circles from a scrap of Midnight Muse card stock. I adhered each of the circles behind the greeting panel so only about half of the circle shows. Then I used my Paper Piercer and Stampin’ Pierce mat to pierce a hole in each of the circle halves and added a Glimmer Brad.

Next I cut a piece of Summer Starfruit striped DSP 2-1/2” x 3-1/4” and adhered it onto a 2-5/8” x 3-3/8” piece of Whisper White card stock. I then adhered my greeting panel onto the DSP panel. Then I adhered the panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used a Mini Glue Dot to add the bow just under the greeting panel.

 

I love the punches layered behind the greeting panel. It gives it such an interesting shape! Have you been using punches to create interesting layers?

Christmas Ornament Friday Mashup 69!

Good morning everyone! Here is the card that I created for the Friday Mashup 69 challenge. I know... I'm a few days late, but here goes. LOTS of new Holiday Catalog items were used to create this card.

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:

1. Make a project "For Christmas."
2. Or Make a "Greeting Card & Decorate the Inside."
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Christmas Card & Decorate the Inside."

This card was also for the Stampin' Connection SCCSC129 sketch challenge. Here is the sketch that was created by yours truly: 

I started off with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock cut at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4". I cut a piece of Festival of Prints DSP 2" x 4-1/4" and adhered it onto the very top of the card front. Next I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock 4" x 4-1/4" and ran it through the Big Shot in the new Lacy Brocade embossing folder. This was adhered onto the bottom of the card. Then I cut a piece of Early Espresso card stock 3/8" x 4-1/4" and adhered it onto the card front where the Cherry Cobbler card stock met the DSP. 

Now for the lovely ornament. I stamped the ornament from Ornament Keepsakes onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and cut it out with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits in the Big Shot. Then I used my handy Embossing Buddy and stamped the greeting from Greetings of the Season in Versamark ink. I covered the Versamark with Gold embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with my heat tool  until it turned shiny.


I used a little bit of SNAIL Adhesive to adhere a strip of 1/8" Real Red Taffeta ribbon onto the card front where I wanted my ornament to hang. I adhered the ornament onto the card front with a few Stampin' Dimensionals. For the bow I used more 1/8" Real Red Taffeta ribbon and adhered it onto the top of the ornament with a Glue Dot.

Now for the inside, since the challenge required the inside of the card be decorated, here is what I did. I stamped the ornament from Ornament Keepsakes in Lucky Limeade ink by inking up the stamp once, then stamping three times to get a progressively lighter image. I adhered a scrap of the Festival of Prints DSP and Early Espresso card stock onto the top of the card front inside. Then I used Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, and Sahara Sand markers to draw lines up from the ornament to the Early Espresso card stock for the ornament strings.  


I wanted to cover the raw end of the ribbon that was hanging over the top of the card front so I stamped another ornament from Ornament Keepsakes in Lucky Limeade ink and cut it out with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits then adhered it on top of the ribbon end. 


I think my favorite item from the new Holiday Catalog is the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and coordinating framelits! They are just so much fun! What is your favorite new item from the Holiday Catalog?
