Butterfly Birthday Wishes

Good morning everyone! It's Friday! All the plants are growing and flowers are blooming! It makes me want to go out and clean up my flower beds. Well here is the third card from the March Make and Take, and a much cleaner way to play with flowers.

• Stamps: Up in the Air (Hostess), Sincere Salutatious
• Card Stock: Pretty in Pink, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Basic Black
• DSP: Twitterpated
• Ink: Black Stazon, Early Espresso
• Accessories: Beautiful Wings Sizzlit, Stampin' Dimensionals, Baja Breeze Pleated ribbon, Dazzling Details, Baja Breeze and Lucky Limeade markers. 

For the card base I started out with a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece of Pretty in Pink card stock and scored it at 4-1/4". Next I cut a piece of Twitterpated DSP 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" and adhere it onto a piece of Early Espresso card stock that was 3-7/8" x 3-7/8". I wrapped a piece of Baja Breeze Pleated ribbon around the panel and adhere the panel onto the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. 

Then I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 2-1/4" x 2-3/4". I stamped the image from Up in the Air in Black Stazon ink. When I got this particular stamp set, I knew I would want to be able to change the greetings around with the images. So I used my Craft and Rubber Scissors to cut the greeting away from the stamp. This made my stamp set much more versatile in my opinion. So I stamped the"so sweet" in the lower right hand corner in Early Espresso ink. You can't really tell the difference in the photo, but it really is noticeable in person. 

I colored in the flowers with my Baja Breeze marker and the stems with my Lucky Limeade marker. This panel was adhered onto a 2-3/8" x 2-7/8" piece of Lucky Limeade card stock, then was adhered to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. To add just a little bit of sparkle I added some Dazzling Details onto the centers of the flowers. 

The "Birthday wishes" greeting from Sincere Salutations was stamped in the bottom right hand corner of the card front in Early Espresso ink. Then the card needed something else in the bottom left hand corner. So I added a butterfly! I used my Beautiful Wings sizzlit to cut out one large Baja Breeze butterfly and one small Basic Black butterfly. I adhered the butterflies together then adhered it onto the card front with Two-Way Glue Pen. To give the card a little more sparkle I added the butterfly body with Dazzling Details. 

My favorite part about this card is the stacked butterflies, and I just LOVE that DSP! Have you been creating anything fun with butterflies lately?

Lets Go Fly a Kite!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It was absolutely gorgeous here in Kansas! I have another Make and Take card to share with you from March. This one uses the stamp set Send Me Soaring. Although every time I see this stamp set it reminds me of the song from Mary Poppins. "Lets go fly a kite, up to the highest heights....." Anyway...take a look at the card we made:

• Stamps: Send Me Soaring
• Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler, Lucky Limeade, Basic Grey, Whisper White, Bashful Blue
• DSP: Twitterpated
• Ink: Bashful Blue, Lucky Limeade, Basic Grey, Poppy Parade, Basic Black
• Accessories: 1" Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Modern Label Punch, 2" x 1-3/8" Oval Punch, Blender Pen, Paper Snips, Basic Black Marker, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Silver Brads

The card base is Cherry Cobbler card stock. I cut and scored the step card as shown in THIS diagram by Connie Babbert. I started off by cutting two strips of Twitterpated DSP 7/8"x 4-3/8". The strips were adhered onto the sides of the step card. Then I cut a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock 7/8" x 4-1/8" and adhered it onto the bottom of the card front. 

For the main image panel I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 2" x 4". I stamped the striped kite in Poppy Parade ink, and the polka dot kite in Basic Grey ink. When I first got my stamp set I decided that I didn't want the clouds to remain together like the stamp comes in the package. So I used my Craft and Rubber Scissors to cut the clouds in the stamp apart. So with my three cloud stamps I randomly stamped the clouds onto the background in Bashful Blue ink. 

I wanted to give my clouds a little bit more dimension, so with the Bashful Blue ink pad closed I squeezed in the middle of the pad. Then I opened up the ink pad half-way and used a Blender Pen to pick up just a tiny bit of ink and added shadows to my clouds. Super easy and it really makes the clouds look soft and fluffy! After all my clouds were colored I stamped the kite tails in Basic Black ink. I didn't quite get the tails positioned correctly so I used the fine point end of the Basic Black Marker to fill in the gap between the kite tail and the kite. 

The image panel was adhered onto a 2-1/8" x 4-1/8" piece of Bashful Blue card stock. Then I adhered this panel onto the center of my card front. The final kite was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Lucky Limeade ink. The kite was cut out with Paper Snips and then I adhered it onto the card front with a Stampin' Dimensional. 

For the greeting I used a lot of punches. I stamped the greeting in Basic Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock and then punched it out with the 1" Circle punch. Then I used the 1-1/4" Circle punch on a scrap of Bashful Blue card stock. I used the Modern Label punch on a scrap of Basic Grey card stock. Then I used the 2" x 1-3/8" Oval punch on a scrap of  Twitterpated DSP.

I adhered the modern label onto the DSP oval. Then I adhered the greeting circle onto the Bashful Blue circle, and that layer on top of the modern label. I used the Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to pierce a hole in both ends of the modern label and added two Silver Brads. This layered label was adhered onto the bottom of the card front with a couple Stampin' Dimensionals.

That's it! It was definitely the most time consuming card of the evening, but I really love how it turned out!

Simply Soft

I actually had a chance to play with a sketch challenge last night. It took quite a while to make something work. It was just one of those days where I couldn't put anything together that I liked, so this one took a lot of effort. I used the Friday Mashup challenge. The challenge was to create a card with the sketch, with the mother of pearl technique, or both. I chose to do both. If you are not familiar with the mother of pearl technique you can find the tutorial for it HERE. Although I'm posting it too late to actually enter it in the challenge. Anyway... here is the card that I managed to get together.

• Stamps: Simply Soft
• Card Stock: Baja Breeze, WhisperWhite
• DSP: Twitterpated
• Ink: Basic Grey, Baja Breeze, Black Stazon, Cherry Cobbler
• Accessories: 5/8" Basic Grey Satin Ribbon, Lucky Limeade marker, Blender Pen, White Gel Pen, Dazzling Details, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Stampin' Sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals, plastic wrap, Blossom Punch, Paper Snips, Two-Way Glue Pen

I started off with a Baja Breeze card base that was cut at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4. Then I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3-7/8" x 5-1/8". Then I searched through the Twitterpated DSP pack for the papers that I wanted to use. I really like how soft the Basic Grey looks against the other colors, so I went with the patterns that used Basic Grey. 

The top piece of DSP was cut at 3-5/8" x 2-5/8". The bottom piece of DSP was cut at 3-5/8" x 2-1/4". The two pieces of DSP were adhered onto the Whisper White card stock. Then I wrapped a piece of 5/8" Basic Grey Satin Ribbon around the panel covering where the DSP pieces meet and tied the ribbon into a knot. 

Next I used the Blossom punch to punch a flower from a scrap of Whisper White card stock and from a scrap of Baja Breeze card stock. The Baja Breeze flower was set aside. I stamped the flowers from Simply Soft onto the Whisper White flower in Black Stazon ink. 

Then I used the Lucky Limeade marker to color in the stems and leaves on the flower. To color in the blossoms I used the Blender Pen with my Cherry Cobbler ink pad. With the ink pad closed squeeze in the middle of the pad, then open the pad half-way. You will see that there is some ink on the lid. Use the Blender Pen to pick up the ink a little at a time and color in your flowers. This is a really easy way to get a soft look to your flowers and blend the light and dark areas. 

Once I had the flowers all colored in I put a little bit of Frost White Shimmer Paint into a container, you only need one drop of paint! Then I scrunched up a piece of plastic wrap, dabbed it into the paint several times, then I dabbed the plastic wrap onto the flower several times. I allowed the paint to dry for a couple of minutes, then I sponged Baja Breeze ink over the entire flower.

Now we can play with the Baja Breeze flower. I used Paper Snips to cut between all of the petals so I ended up with six individual petals. Then I used the Two-Way Glue Pen to adhere each of the Baja Breeze petals behind the petals on the stamped flower. After all the petals were adhered on I sponged around the edges with Basic Grey ink.

I adhered the flower onto the card front with a couple Stampin' Dimensionals. I added some White Gel Pen onto the stamens of each of the flowers and then applied Dazzling Details on top of the stamens to give the flower a little more sparkle.

I really like the color combination on this one, the Basic Grey looks surprisingly soft against the Baja Breeze and Whisper White. What do you think?

Tea Just for You!

Hello everyone! Today I am going to share with you the first card from the March Make and Take class. This card was inspired by a card created by Debra Currier. You can find her card HERE. I loved the layout of her card, but I wanted to work Pool Party into the mix. I just love that color! Anyway...take a look at the card:

• Stamps: Tea Shoppe
• Card Stock: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Calypso Coral
• DSP: Everyday Enchantment
• Ink: Pool Party, Calypso Coral
• Accessories: Island Indigo Marker, Scallop Trim Border punch, Bitty Punch Pack (blossom), Rhinestones, Stampin' Dimensionals, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Paper Snips

I started out with a 5-1/2"x 8-1/2" piece of Pool Party card stock that was scored at 4-1/4" for the card base. The card front was run through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3" x 4" and a piece of Island Indigo card stock 3-1/4" x 4-1/4". The "Just for You" was stamped in the lower right hand corner in Calypso Coral ink. Then I adhered the Whisper White card stock onto the Island Indigo card stock. Then I cut three strips of Everyday Enchantment DSP 1/2" x 3". I used Paper Snips to cut a dove-tail into the end of each DSP strip and adhered the three strips onto the left side of the Whisper White and Island Indigo panel.

Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 1-1/4" x 4". I inked up the tea cups with Pool Party ink, then I colored in the center cup with my Island Indigo marker. Then I simply breathed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink and stamped the image onto the card stock.

Tip: As long as you are going from light to dark when you're coloring you will not affect the color on your markers. In this case I was coloring over Pool Party ink with Island Indigo. Since the color I added second is darker I don't have to worry about messing up my markers. If you tried to color Pool Party over Island Indigo all you would accomplish is ruining your Pool Party marker.

The next step is to cut a 1-3/4" x 4"piece of Island Indigo card stock and punch both long sides of the card stock with the Scallop Trim border punch. Then I adhered the stamped tea cups onto the punched card stock.

The tea cup strip was adhered onto the top section of the larger Whisper White and Island Indigo panel and then the panel was adhered onto the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Just to finish it off I used the four petal flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack on a scrap of Calypso Coral card stock. The petals of the flower were folded up to give the flower some shape, then I adhered the flower onto the top of the middle tea cup. A single small rhinestone was added into the center of  the flower just to give the card a little bit of sparkle.

This is another almost monochromatic card! I just love the little pops of Calypso Coral mixed in with the Pool Party and Island Indigo! What do you think?

Pool Party Thanks

Good morning everyone! I recently had a chance to actually play in my craft room just to have fun, instead of working on something for a tutorial or a class. This is the result. If you can't tell I'm absolutely IN LOVE with Pool Party. As a matter of fact...I'm thinking of re-painting my craft room this color. The only thing stopping me is that I would have to take everything out of the room to re-paint. Anyway... on to the card. Take a look: 

• Stamps: Hello Doily, Thank You Kindly, Mixed Bunch
• Card Stock: Pool Party, Whisper White
• DSP: Sweet Shop
• Accessories: Everyday Enchantment Brads (SAB), 5/8"Basic Black Satin ribbon, Paper Piercer, mat Pack, Stampin' Dimensionals. Blossom punch

I started off with, of course, Pool Party card stock cut at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored it at 4-1/4". Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 4" x 5-1/2". I stamped the doily from Hello Doily onto the Whisper White card stock in Pool Party ink and adhered the card stock onto the card front.

Then I cut a piece of Sweet Shop DSP 1-1/2" x 4" and stamped the greeting from Thank You Kindly on the right side in Basic Black ink. I adhered the DSP onto the bottom section of the stamped Whisper White panel. I wrapped a piece of 5/8" Basic Black Satin ribbon around the card front and tied it into a knot and trimmed the ribbon ends.

At that point the card was pretty, but it need something more. But what....then I saw my new Mixed Bunch stamp set on my work table just begging to be used. So I stamped the flower from Mixed Bunch onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Pool Party ink and punched out the flower with the coordinating Blossom punch. I pierced a hole in the center of the flower with my Paper Piercer and Mat pack and added a Lucky Limeade brad in the hole. The flower was adhered onto the card front with a couple Stampin' Dimensionals.

I'm loving this mostly monochromatic look with just a couple pops of another color. What do you think?

Everyday Birthday

Good morning everyone! I hope you have a fabulous Monday! Here is another sketch challenge card. This one was created with SCCSC102 on Stampin' Connection. Take a look:

Here is the sketch that was created by yours truly:

This was another quick and easy card to put together. I started off with a 4-1/4" x 11" Crumb Cake card stock that was scored at 5-1/2". I cut two pieces from two different patterns of Everyday Enchantment DSP at 1" x 4". I adhered the DSP strips alternating patterns across the top off the card front.

Next I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 1-1/2" x 4-1/4". I punched one of the long edges with the Scallop Edge Border punch. The greeting from Bring on the Cake was stamped in the bottom right hand corner of the punched Very Vanilla strip in Peach Parfait ink. This piece was adhered onto the card front right against the edge of the DSP strips.

Then I cut a long piece of Lucky Limeade Organza ribbon that came with the Everyday Enchantment Embellishment pack. I wrapped the ribbon around the card front three times and tied the ends into a bow.The Lucky Limeade ribbon really adds a pop of color on this simple card!

With Love Bag Tutorial

As promised, here is the tutorial for the With Love Bag. I changed up the colors on this one, but other than that it is the same as the one I posted last week. So here we go! 

For this project you will need: 

• Stamps: Inspired By Nature, Field Flowers
• Card Stock: Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
• Ink: Pool Party, Lucky Limeade
• Accessories: 5/8" Basic Grey Satin ribbon, Sticky Strip, Paper Snips, Stampin' Dimensionals, Scallop Oval punch, 1-3/8" x 5/8" Oval punch, 1-3/4" x 7/8" Oval punch

1. Cut a piece of Pool Party card stock 3-1/4" x 11". With the 11" side at the top of your scoring tool score at 4", 5-1/4", 9-1/4", and 10-1/2". Rotate the card stock 90 degrees so that the 3-1/4" side is at the top of your scoring tool and score at 1". Trim the card stock so it looks like the picture below. 

2. Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3" x 5". Stamp the grass from Inspired By Nature in Lucky Limeade ink. To make the color lighter I inked up the stamped, stamped the image onto a piece of copy paper once before stamping the image onto my card stock.

3. Stamp the flowers from Inspired By Nature in Pool Party ink. 

4. Adhere the stamped Whisper White card stock onto a 3-1/4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pool Party card stock. Then adhere this layer onto a 3-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Lucky Limeade card stock. Cut a second 3-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Lucky Limeade card stock. 

5. Flip over the Lucky Limeade panel with the stamped image. Place a piece of Sticky Strip along the bottom of both pieces of Lucky Limeade card stock. 

6. Fold on all of the score lines on your Pool Party card stock. Place Sticky Strip in the locations shown in the picture below. Then flip it over and place a piece of Sticky Strip on just one of the longer bottom tabs. 

7. Cut a piece of 5/8" Basic Grey Satin ribbon approximately 5" long. Use SNAIL Adhesive to adhere the ribbon onto the front of the stamped panel and adhere the ends of the ribbon onto the back of the panel. 

8. Remove the Sticky Strip liner from the top of the Pool Party card stock and from the bottom of the Lucky Limeade card stock. Adhere the panels onto the box sides as shown below. 

9. To form the box start by removing the Sticky Strip liner from the side tab and adhere the tab onto the inside of the other end of the card stock. Fold in the long bottom flap without the Sticky Strip, then the two side flaps. Remove the Sticky Strip liner from the bottom flap and adhere this down last. 

10. Stamp the greeting from Field Flowers onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Pool Party ink. Punch out the greeting with the 1-3/8" x 5/8" Oval punch. Use the 1-3/4" x 7/8" Oval punch on a scrap of Pool Party card stock. Use the Scalloped Oval punch on a scrap of Lucky Limeade card stock. 

11. Adhere the label layers on top of one another.

12. Use the 1-3/8" x 5/8" Oval punch to punch the oval in the top of the bag. To do this pinch the front and back panels together, slide the punch over all four layers of card stock to the location where you want your oval, and punch. You will have to squeeze hard, but this allows you to get your oval on the front and back panel closely lined up. 

 13. Adhere the greeting label onto the box with Stampin' Dimensionals.

14. Cut a piece of Basic Grey Satin ribbon approximately 13" long. Wrap the ribbon through the handle ovals and tie it into a bow. Trim the ends of the ribbon with Paper Snips. 

That's it! Now you have a cute little bag to give a gift to someone special!
