Today I have for you a couple of cards that I submitted for the Haunting Halloween swap on Stampin' Connection. As I've said before I LOVE swaps! It is so nice to get a variety of ideas from other Demonstrators. Well here is the first card that I created:
Stamps: Dark And Dreary
Cardstock: Basic Black, Basic Grey, Peach Parfait, Rich Razzleberry, Scraps for owl
DSP: Rich Razzleberry DSP (retired) Sorry! Didn't mean to use retired paper!
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: 1/8" Pumpkin Pie Taffeta ribbn, Two-Step Owl Punch, Scalloped Circle punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Spider Web Textured Impressions Die, Brayer
The card base is Basic Black cardstock cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4". A 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock was run through the Big Shot in the Spider Web Textured Impressions die. A brayer was used to add Basic Black ink onto the textured Rich Razzleberry cardstock. This panel was adhered to the card front.
A piece of Basic Grey cardstock was cut at 1 1/2" x 4 1/4". The "Happy Halloween" image from the set Dark And Dreary was stamped in Basic Black ink on the left side. A piece of 1/8" Pumpkin Pie Taffeta ribbon was added around the cardstock on the right side. This panel was adhered to a piece of Peach Parfait cardstock that was cut at 2" x 4 1/4" and the panels were then adhered to the card front.
Scraps of Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Basic Black and Rich Razzleberry DSP (retired) were punched with the Two-Step Owl Punch and adhered together with a Two-Way Glue Pen. To make the witch hat I punched on scalloped oval out of Basic Black scraps with the Scalloped Oval punch. The Hobby Blade was used to cut an arc in the middle of the oval so the hat could go over the owl's head. To do the pointed part of the hat I used the 1 3/4" circle punch to punch a circle in a scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock. After a circle is punched in the scrap piece move the punch over a little and punch again to get what looks like a crescent moon.
A small piece of 1/8" Rich Razzleberry Taffeta ribbon was adhered around the crescent shaped piece of Basic Black to make a hat band. I used Snail Adhesive to hold the ribbon in place. Use the Two-Way Glue Pen to adhere to scalloped circle onto the owl's head. Then adhere the hat point behind the scalloped circle. The owl was adhered to the card front with a Stampin' Dimensional.
That's it! I just love using this new owl punch and it makes a really cute witch for a halloween card. Come back a little later to see the other card I made for the Haunting Halloween Swap! It's spooky and I just know you'll love it!
