Owl Tea Bag Holder

Good morning all! It's still been crazy around here. Some day I will get caught up on my posting. Anyway...here is the 3D project that we made at the June Make and Take and everyone loved it! It is a little tea bag holder that holds two tea bags. A perfect little gift for someone who loves tea! Take a look:

Stamps: Very Vintage wheel, Afterthoughts (retired)

Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Marina Mist

Cardstock Scraps: Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Concord Crush DSP, Old Olive
Ink: Early Espresso, Real Red

Accessories: Decorative Label Punch, Bird Punch, Owl Punch, Paper Snips, Sticky Strip, 1 1/4" Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Two-Way Glue Pen, Stampin' Dimensionals.

This little guy actually holds two tea bags, one on each side, I just have one inserted here for the picture.

To get started cut a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock 4 1/2" x 6 1/4". With the long side of the cardstock against the top of your scoring tool score at 3" and 3 1/4". Rotate the cardstock 90 degrees so that the short side of your cardstock is against the top of your scoring tool and score at 1". Fold on all score lines.

Use the Very Vintage wheel with Early Espresso ink all over both the front and the back of the Sahara Sand cardstock. This will give a pattern to the outside and the inside of the tea bag holder. All of your sticky strip will be applied to the 1" section of cardstock only. Place one piece of Sticky Strip against both of the outside edges. You want to make sure that your Sticky Strip really is right at the edge of the cardstock!. Place one piece of Sticky Strip in the 1/4" wide center section. Remove the liner from the Sticky Strip and fold the 1" section up to adhere it. Now you have two little pockets just the right size for a standard tea bag.

For the outside... Use Sticky Strip to adhere a 15 1/2" piece of 1 1/4" wide Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. Insert your tea bags into the pockets, tie your ribbon into a knot and trim the ends. Next cut a 2 1/2" x 3" piece of Marina Mist cardstock. Punch out your owl pieces from your scraps and adhere your owl together.

Stamp the greeting from Afterthoughts (retired) in Real Red ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. Then punch out the greeting with the Decorative Label punch. Sponge the edges of the label with Early Espresso ink and adhere the label to the Marina Mist cardstock in the lower right hand corner. Punch a branch from Old Olive cardstock scraps using the Bird Punch. Adhere the branch to the Marina Mist cardstock with the Two-Way Glue Pen. Now cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 2 5/8" x 3 1/8" and adhere the Marina Mist cardstock on top of it. Adhere your owl with a Stampin' Dimensional. Now adhere your panel to the front of the tea bag holder with several Stampin' Dimensionals.

That's it! Super quick and easy! Especially with the fabulous new Simply Score tool that allows you to easily make multiples of the same project. I absolutely LOVE this new tool. I will feature it in a post for you tomorrow so you can see everything about it! I just know you'll love it too!

Birthday Candles

Sorry I’ve been MIA the last couple of days. Between the power being out one day of the weekend and a really busy start to the week I didn’t have a chance to get any posts scheduled. So here is the final card from the June Make and Take. This was also the masculine card. At each Make and Take I always try to do at least one masculine card to help my guests come up with ideas for something for the guys. Well here is the card:

Stamps: Apple Blossom (retired), Word Play, Sanded (retired)

Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Poppy Parade, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron
DSP: 2010-2011 In Color DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip
Markers: Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, Tangerine Tango, Real Red, Daffodil Delight

Accessories: Stampin’ Sponge, Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accents, Heart Punch, Paper Snips, 5/8” Real Red Satin Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Ticket Corner Punch, Crop-A-Dile

The card base is Poppy Parade cardstock cut at 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” and scored at 4 1/4”. A piece of Bashful Blue cardstock was cut at 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” and was adhered to the card front. A piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock was cut at 3 3/4” x 5”. The Sanded background stamp (retired) was used with Chocolate Chip ink to stamp the pattern onto the Chocolate Chip cardstock.

Next I stamped the circle background image from Apple Blossom (retired) in Daffodil Delight ink onto So Saffron cardstock scraps. The Heart Punch was then used to punch a heart from the stamped portion of the So Saffron scrap cardstock. You need two hearts, so stamp and punch out two hearts. Next the Paper Snips were used to cut the heart in half and the point that was at the center of the heart is rounded over to form more of a teardrop shape. The edges of the teardrop are sponged with Cajun Craze ink then the candle flames are adhered to the Chocolate Chip cardstock in the positions that you want them.

Next three pieces of DSP were cut at 3/4” x 3 1/2” and the edges were sponged with Chocolate Chip ink. These strips were adhered to the Chocolate Chip cardstock just under each of the flames. Any DSP extending past the Chocolate Chip cardstock was trimmed off with Paper Snips. If you adhere the strips first and then the flames you might have flames that stick up above the top of the card. Then your card won’t fit in the envelope. By adhering the flames first you make sure you get them right where you want them.

The Chocolate Chip cardstock was then adhered to the card front on top of the Bashful Blue cardstock. One Basic Rhinestone Jewel Accent was added to each of the candle flames for a little bit of sparkle. Next a 1 1/2” x 2” piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut and the corners were punched with the Ticket Corner Punch. Next the image from Word Play was colored in with Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, Tangerine Tango, Real Red, and Daffodil Delight markers. After the stamp was entirely colored I just breathed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink and then stamped it in the center of the Whisper White cardstock. The edges of the Whisper White cardstock were then sponged with Chocolate Chip ink.

A piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock was cut at 1 3/4” x 2 1/4”. All four corners were punched with the Ticket Corner Punch and the stamped Whisper White cardstock was adhered to it. The large hole of the Crop-A-Dile was used to punch a hole in one end of the tag that we created. A piece of 5/8” Real Red Satin Ribbon was put through the hole and tied into a knot. The ends of the ribbon were trimmed and the tag was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A few steps to go through, but this card is great for either a guy or a girl! I just love those big candles. This card was cased from a card created by Carrie Gaskin. You can find her card HERE and her fabulous blog HERE.

Bold Blossom Thanks

Today I have the third card from the June Make and Take. This card was inspired by a card created by Lisa Young. Here is the card that we made.

Stamps: Bold Blossom, Elements of Style

Cardstock: Whisper White, Marina Mist, Real Red, Daffodil Delight

Ink: Basic Black, Marina Mist, Old Olive

Accessories: Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Glimmer Brad, 5/8” Daffodil Delight Grosgrain Ribbon.

The card base is Whisper White cardstock cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. A 2” x 4 ¼” piece of Marina Mist cardstock was stamped with the flourish from Elements of Style in Marina Mist ink. This is just to add a subtle pattern to the cardstock. I love the look of using tone-on-tone to create a subtle background. The Marina Mist cardstock was adhered to the card front.

The stem from Bold Blossom was stamped in Old Olive ink. A piece of Real Red cardstock cut at 1” x 4 ¼” was adhered over the seam of the Marina Mist and Whisper White. The reason I stamped first before adding the Real Red cardstock is because I wanted the bottom of the stem to be hidden behind the cardstock, otherwise there would be a gap between the start of the stem and the edge of the cardstock.

The greeting was stamped in Basic Black ink to the left of the stem. The butterfly was stamped in Marina Mist ink by inking the stamp, stamping on a scrap piece of paper, and then stamping onto the card front. This is called Stamping Off and it produces a lighter image in the color of ink you used.

Using the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch I punched out the largest one from Real Red cardstock, the middle one from Daffodil Delight cardstock, and the smallest flower from Whisper White cardstock. The flowers were all adhered together with Two-Way Glue Pen and then I used the Paper Piercer and the Mat Pack to pierce a hole in the middle of the flower to add a Glimmer Brad. The flower was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Then to finish it off a piece of 5/8” Daffodil Delight Grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around the card front and tied into a knot.

Kindness

Here is the second card from the June Make and Take! This one was inspired by a card created by Vicki B.

Ink: Black Stazon, Crumb Cake, Basic Black
Markers: Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, So Saffron, Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive, Sahara Sand, Basic Grey

Accessories: Gold Brads, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock that was cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. The card front was stamped with the Pretty Petals background stamp (retired) in Crumb Cake ink. Then one piece of Peach Parfait DSP was cut at 1” x 4” and another was cut at 1 ¼” 4 ½”. These were adhered to the card front so that they overlap just a little bit.

Next a piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut at 2 ½” x 3 ¼”. The fountain and cat from Touch of Kindness were stamped in Black Stazon ink and then colored in with the markers. To get the shading on the cat start with your lightest color and color the entire cat. Then add shading with the next darker color just where you want the shadows. Then add some darker areas to your shadows with your darkest color. Then finally to blend them all color over the entire image again with the lightest color. It doesn’t look like it while you’re working, but the colors will blend together. Trust me!

Do the same shading with the Sahara Sand and Basic Grey markers on the fountain. Then color the ground with the Pear Pizzaz and Old Olive markers. Once I finished coloring the panel it was adhere to a 2 5/8” x 3 3/8” piece of Peach Parfait cardstock. Now time to add some sparkle! I put little bitty dots of Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive just on the water drops in the fountain. Then I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over the adhesive and tapped of the excess. This panel was then adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The Paper Piercer and Mat Pack were used to pierce three holes underneath the image panel and three Gold Brads were added. Finally the greeting was stamped in Basic Black ink in the lower right hand corner of the card.

Peach Pear Blossom

Sorry for the delay in posting. I meant to get this up yesterday but was having some technical difficulties and then it was time to go to work. Today I have to share with you the first card from the June Make and Take. This card was inspired by a card created by Mindy Backes. Here is the card we made:

Stamps: Ornate Blossom, Four Frames, Because I Care
Cardstock: Peach Parfait, Whisper White
DSP: Greenhouse Gala (retired)
Ink: Pear Pizzaz, Peach Parfait

Accessories: Tasteful Trim Die, Decorative Label Punch, Sponge Dauber, Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accents, Two Way Glue Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The card base is Peach Parfait cardstock cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”. Next I cut a piece of Greenhouse Gala DSP (retired) 2 ½” x 4” and adhered it to the bottom of the card front. Then the Bold Blossom image was inked up with Peach Parfait and stamped in the middle left hand side just above the DSP.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut 1” x 4 ¼” and was run through the Tasteful Trim Die to get the large scallops. The edges of the scallops were sponged with Pear Pizzaz ink and the scallops were adhered to the card front just above the DSP. Then a piece of Peach Parfait cardstock was cut at ½” x 4 ¼” and was run through the Tasteful Trim die to get the zig-zag or ric-rac piece. This was adhered over the seam of the Whisper White cardstock and the DSP using a Two-Way Glue Pen.

Next the image from Four Frames was stamped in Pear Pizzaz ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. The greeting from Because I Care (retired) was stamped in Peach Parfait ink. Then the label was punched out with the Decorative Label punch. Three Basic Rhinestone Jewel Accents were added under the greeting and the label was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Fabulous Floret

Today I am going to share with you the second card that I made for the New Color Card Swap. This one was for the new 2011-2013 In Colors. I really love these new colors that we have to play with this year. Take a look:

Stamps: Woodgrain, Fabulous Florets

Cardstock: Whisper White, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade
Ink: Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo

Accessories: Large Lace Border Punch, Paper Snips, Two-Way Glue Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Pool Party Marker, Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accents

The card base is Whisper White cardstock that was cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. Next a piece of Pool Party cardstock was cut at 3 ¾” x 4 ¾”. The Pool Party cardstock was stamped with the Woodgrain background stamp in Pool Party ink and then the bottom side was torn. The greeting from Fabulous Florets was stamped in Island Indigo ink in the lower right hand corner of the stamped Pool Party cardstock. This panel was adhered to the card front.

Next I used the Large Lace Border Punch with a scrap of Whisper White cardstock to get the lacy border. The lace was adhered to a 1 3/8” x 5 ½” piece of Lucky Limeade cardstock and then this was adhered to the card front.

For the image panel a piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut at 1 ¾” x 2 ¾”. The leaves were stamped in Lucky Limeade and then this cardstock was adhered to a 1 7/8” x 2 7/8” piece of Island Indigo cardstock. This panel was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now for the fabulous flower! The flower image from Fabulous Florets was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock in Pool Party ink. Then I used the Pool Party marker to add some shading to the petals by going over it twice. The first time you color the flower color over about half of each of the petals. Let the ink dry for a couple of minutes, then go over the flower again with the marker this time only covering about ¼ of the petal. This will give you a nice shadow look to your flower and you only need one color!

The flower was trimmed out using Paper Snips and was adhered to the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Three rhinestones were added to the upper right hand corner of the Pool Party cardstock just for a little sparkle. I’m certainly glad I only had to make 10 of these for the swap! They are pretty, but a little bit time consuming when doing so many. Well….I’m off. Have a wonderful day!

Natural Lace

Good morning everyone! Today I have to share with you the card that I created for a swap on Stampin’ Connection. Take a look:

Ink: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Basic Black Craft

Accessories: Black Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Glimmer Brad, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The card base is Basic Black cardstock cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”. The next layer is a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that was cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and was stamped with the doily image from Delicate Doilies in Crumb Cake ink. The greeting from Just Believe was stamped in Basic Black ink in the lower right hand corner and this panel was adhered to the card front.

Next a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock was cut at 3” x 4 ¼”. Another image from Delicate Doilies was stamped in Crumb Cake ink all over the cardstock to create a background. The Embossing Buddy was rubbed over the cardstock and the final doily image was stamped in Basic Black Craft ink and covered with Black Embossing Powder. After the excess powder was tapped off the Heat Tool was used to melt the embossing powder. The glossy black really stands out from the patterned background nicely. This panel was adhered to a 3 ¼” x 4 ½” piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Next the Paper Piercer was used with the Mat Pack to pierce a hole through the center of the black doily and a Glimmer Brad was added in the center. A piece of 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon was tied around the bottom of the panel and the panel was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Simple, pretty quick, and elegant. I really love this Delicate Doilies stamp set because it is so easy to make and elegant card, and a fun and funky card with the same stamps and different colors!

Turquoise Beauty

Many of you know that I like to do a large variety of crafts other than just paper crafting. Well here is a necklace that I made for a gift. I just HAVE find another one of those pendants so I can make one for myself. All of the supplies except for the three turquoise colored beads came from one of those craft stores that starts with a “J”. There is one on Shawnee Mission Parkway in Kansas City that has the most wonderful jewelry supply section. I just love it, even if it is 45 minutes away. The turquoise and gold beads came from Wal-Mart. Anyway here is the necklace.

I really love the asymmetrical look. It’s not easy for me to do though. I like patterns, clean lines, evenly spaced things. So this style pushes me out of my comfort zone a bit, but I love the finished result! Now its time to make another one for me!

Remember When

A friend of my husband lost their dog last week, so he asked me to make his friend a card. I never have sympathy cards on hand. I really don’t like to make them. This is what I came up with.

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Woodgrain, Word Play

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy, Very Vanilla
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Black Stazon, Basic Black Craft, Crumb Cake

Accessories: Black Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Gun, Basic Grey Marker, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Sponge

The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”. The card front was stamped with the Woodgrain background stamp in Crumb Cake ink. A piece of Early Espresso cardstock was cut at 2” x 5 ½” and was run through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder. This was adhered to a 2 1/8” x 5 ½” piece of More Mustard cardstock and then adhered to the card front.

Next a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock was cut at 3” x 3/12. The top half of the cardstock was sponged with Daffodil Delight ink and then Peach Parfait ink to create the sunset. Next the trees from Lovely as a Tree were stamped in Black Stazon ink. Then the Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive, and Always Artichoke ink pads were used directly to the paper to color in the grassy area. The edges of the panel were sponged with Early Espresso ink and the tree trunks were colored in with the Basic Grey Marker.

After the ink on the panel had dried thoroughly I rubbed the Embossing Buddy across the panel and stamped the greeting from Word Play in Basic Black Craft ink. I poured Black Embossing Powder over the stamped image, tapped off the excess, and heated the powder with the heat tool. This creates a raised and shiny greeting on the card front.

This image panel was adhered to a 3 1/8” x 3 5/8” piece of More Mustard cardstock and then this was adhered to a 3 3/8” x 3 ¾” piece of Bravo Burgundy cardstock. The panel was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

That’s it! This card only took about 30 minutes to make. I just love the effect.

Inside the card I added this poem that I came up with. Instead of just a regular sympathy card I wanted the person receiving it to think of all the wonderful memories. I tried finding one on google, but after viewing many sites and tearing up at each one I couldn't find one that seemed to fit well. So I decided to come up with my own. I’m no poet or writer, but here it is:

Remember how I’d wag my tail, and greet you at the door

Remember how I’d beg for treats, always wanting just one more

Remember how I’d always fetch anything you would throw

Most of all Remember, when you’re feeling low

How I loved you, and that you’ll never be alone

So Little Cake

 This card was created for the SCCSC79 sketch challenge on Stampin’ Connection.

Accessories: Cherry Cobbler ½ Inch Scallop Polka Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accents, Lots of Tags Label 2, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is the sketch that was created by Liz Goldhawk:

The card base is 5 ½” x 8 ½” Pink Pirouette cardstock that was scored at 4 ¼”. The card front was stamped with the Delicate Doilies stamp set in Pink Pirouette ink. This gives the card base a nice, yet simple pattern. Next a piece of Flirtatious DSP was cut at 2 ¾” x 3 ¾”. This was adhered to a 3” x 4” piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, and the panel was adhered to the card front.

A piece of Wisteria Wonder cardstock was cut at 1” x 5 ½” and was adhered to the card front. A piece of Cherry Cobbler ½ Inch Scallop Polka Ribbon was cut at 11”. Using Snail adhesive I adhered the end of the ribbon in the center of the Wisteria Wonder cardstock strip right where I want my label to go. The ribbon was wrapped around the card front and the other end was adhered to the Wisteria Wonder cardstock.

The label was cut in the Big Shot using Whisper White cardstock and the Lots of Tags Label 2 die. The greeting from Bring on the Cake was stamped in Cherry Cobbler cardstock and the label was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Three rhinestones were added to two of the corners of the DSP to add a little bling. Gotta love that bling!

That’s it. The color combo came from the Color Coach. It’s not one I would have come up with on my own, but it works.

The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. The card front was stamped with the flourishes from Baroque Motifs in Crumb Cake ink to give the card a subtle background pattern. A piece of Flirtatious DSP was cut at 2 ½” x 4 ¼” and was then adhered to the card front.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut at 2 7/8” x 3 1/8”. The flower from Simply Soft (Hostess) was stamped three times across the cardstock in Black Stazon ink. Next I colored in the flowers with the Pink Pirouette marker, colored the flowers again with the Blushing Bride marker without covering the Pink Pirouette completely. I repeated the last step with the Melon Mambo marker. The leaves and stems were colored in first with the Pear Pizzaz marker and shadows were added with the Lucky Limeade marker. Some White Gel Pen was used to add highlights to the very tops of the flowers.

After all that marker ink dries completely the edges of the cardstock were sponged with Pink Pirouette ink. The Embossing Buddy was used over the panel. Then the greeting from Baroque Motifs was stamped in Black Craft ink and Black Embossing Powder was added over the stamped image. The excess Embossing Powder was tapped off and the image was heated with the Heat Gun. This stamped cardstock panel was adhered to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock that was cut at 3” x 3 ¼”.

Two scalloped ovals were punched from Melon Mambo cardstock using the Scalloped Oval Punch. Each label was adhered behind the image panel with just half of the oval showing above and below the panel. Five Basic Pearls Jewel Accents were added to each of the scalloped circles to give the card a little bling. This panel was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Wisteria Wishes

This card I created for the SCCSC78 sketch challenge on Stampin’ Connection. I just had to play with my new Hostess set Simply Soft.

Stamps: Simply Soft (Hostess), Teeny Tiny Wishes

Cardstock: Basic Grey, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White

Ink: Black Stazon, Wisteria Wonder, Bashful Blue

Markers: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke

Accessories: Bird Punch, Sponge Dauber, Stampin’ Dimensionals, White Gel Pen, Perfect Details Texturz Plate, Needle Tool, Mat Pack, Black Brads

The sketch created by yours truly is here:

The card base is 5 ½” x 8 ½” Basic Grey cardstock that was scored at 4 ¼”. The next layer is a piece of Wisteria Wonder cardstock that was cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and run through the Big Shot on the Perfect Details Texturz Plate. This was adhered to the card front.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut at 2 ¼” x 3 ¼”. The image from Simply Soft (Hostess) was stamped several times in Black Stazon ink. Stazon ink works perfectly for anything that you will be coloring in. It is a permanent ink that dries quickly and doesn’t bleed when you use the markers.

For the coloring I used Karen Barber's tutorial on Marker Layering just with two less colors. You can find Karen's fabulous tutorial HERE.

Next I colored in the flowers with the Wisteria Wonder marker, added shadows with the Elegant Eggplant marker, colored over the flowers again with the Wisteria Wonder marker to blend the colors, and finally added highlights with the White Gel Pen. The stems were colored in with the Lucky Limeade marker and shadows were added with the Always Artichoke marker. The greeting from Teeny Tiny wishes was stamped in the upper right hand corner of the panel in Wisteria Wonder ink. Then the edges of the panel were sponged with Bashful Blue ink.

The colored panel was adhered to a 2 ½” x 3 ½” piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock and then the panel was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Needle Tool and Mat Pack were used to pierce three holes in the lower left hand corner of the card front and three Black Brads were added.

Next I used the Bird Punch to punch out a bird and wing from Bashful Blue cardstock scraps and a branch from Lucky Limeade cardstock. The edges of the bird and wing were sponged with Bashful Blue ink and the bird’s eye was added with the Basic Black marker. The wing was adhered to the bird with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The branch was adhered to the back of the bird with the Two-Way Glue Pen, and then the bird was adhered to the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Now the card is done!

Cheerful Wonder

Today I have to share with you another sketch challenge! Yay! Ok here is the card that I created for the SCCSC77 Sketch Challenge on Stampin’ Connection:

Stamps: Friends Never Fade

Cardstock: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White

DSP: Cheerful Treat (hostess)
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Basic Black

Accessories: Scalloped Square Die, Wisteria Wonder Marker, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Here is the sketch created by Susie Nelson:

The card base is Wisteria Wonder cardstock cut at 4 ¾” x 9 ½”, scored at 4 ¾”. Place the folded cardstock on the Scalloped Square die very carefully. You want to make sure that on the fold side you don’t cut the entire scallop. This will leave just enough fold on the scallops to hold the card together. Run the Scallop Square die through the Big Shot to cut your card base.

A piece of Cheerful Treat DSP was cut at 3 ¾” x 3 ¾”. This was adhered to a 3 7/8” x 3 7/8” piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock and was then adhered to the card front. Next another pattern from the Cheerful Treat DSP package was cut at 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” and was adhered to a 2 7/8” x 2 7/8” piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock. This was adhered to the card front.

The Whisper White cardstock was cut at 1 7/8” x 1 7/8”. The image from Friends Never Fade was stamped in Wisteria Wonder ink. The Wisteria Wonder marker was used with the fine point to add some shadow lines to the stamped image. The greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped onto the panel in Basic Black ink. This stamped Whisper White cardstock was adhered to a 2” x 2” piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock. This layer was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

That’s it! This really was simple once I figured out the dimensions of the cardstock and DSP. Something like this would be super cute for invitations!

Weathered Ornate

I have another sketch challenge for you! It’s not that I haven’t done any challenges in a while, it’s just that I haven’t had time to type up the posts to share them with you. I’m hoping to get caught up with my posting soon. But anyway…here is the card that I created for the SCCSC76 Sketch Challenge on Stampin’ Connection:

Stamps: Friends Never Fade, Touch of Kindness, Weathered (retired)

Cardstock: Whisper White, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral

Ink: Pool Party, Calypso Coral

Accessories: Top Note Die, Scallop Square Punch, Postage Stamp Punch, Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accents, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Scallop Edge Border Punch

Here is the sketch that was created by Liz Goldhawk:

The card base is Whisper White cardstock cut at 5 ¼” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”. The card front will be the 4” wide side and the card back will be the 4 ¼” side. The card front was stamped with the Weathered (retired) background stamp in Pool Party ink. Next I cut a piece of Lucky Limeade cardstock 1 ¼” x 5 ½” long and used the Scallop Edge Border punch along one side. This was adhered to the bottom of the card front to line up with the edge of the back of the card. A piece of Pool Party cardstock was cut at ½” x 5 ½” and was adhered on top of the scallop edged Lucky Limeade cardstock.

Next a piece of Lucky Limeade and a piece of Pool Party cardstock were cut at 4” x 5” and run through the Big Shot on the Top Note die. I absolutely love this die! It is so versatile! I cut the two top notes in half length-wise on my paper trimmer. We only need on half of each of the top notes so the other half went into my scrap pile to be used on something else later. The Pool Party top note was trimmed along the dashed line with Paper Snips and was adhered to the Lucky Limeade top note. The top note panel was adhered to the card front just above the scallop edged Lucky Limeade edge.

The ornate blossom image from Friends Never Fade was stamped three times in Pool Party ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. However, the third time the image was stamped I didn’t re-ink the image. This gives a much lighter stamped image and will allow the greeting to show up better. The greeting from Touch of Kindness was stamped in Calypso Coral ink on top of the lighter blossom.

All three blossoms were punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. The Scalloped Square punch was used on a scrap of Calypso Coral cardstock to punch three scalloped squares. The postage punch images were adhered to the Calypso Coral scalloped squares. The squares were then adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then finally some Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accents were added to the squares to give the card a little sparkle.
