Thank You Birdie!

This card was created for the SCCSC70 sketch challenge on Stampin’ Connection. This week’s sketch was created by Liz Goldhawk. Here is the sketch

And here is my card:

Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons, With All My Heart
Cardstock: Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Concord Crush
DSP: Blushing Bride, Concord Crush
Ink: Black Stazon, Blushing Bride, Concord Crush
Markers: Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Pear Pizzaz, Bashful Blue, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Blender Pen, Marina Mist, Peach Parfait, and Sahara Sand
Accessories: Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Folder, Lots of Tags Sizzlit, Stampin’ Sponge, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The card base is Blushing Bride cardstock cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. A piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. Two pieces of DSP were cut, one from Concord Crush that is 1 ½” x 4” and one from Blushing Bride that is 1 ½” x 2 ½”. The DSP was adhered to the Whisper White cardstock with the Blushing Bride DSP overlapping the Concord Crush DSP. This panel was run through the Big Shot in the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Folder and then adhered to the card front.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock was cut at 2 ¼” x 2 ¼”. The image from A Flower For All Seasons was stamped in Black Stazon in the center of the Whisper White cardstock. This is one of the stamp sets that is retiring June 30th. So if you want it make sure to order it soon because after June 30th it will be gone forever! The image was colored in with markers.

One of the tricks I’ve learned for blending colors well with SU markers is to color in the entire image with the lightest color, add in your shadows with a darker color, then color over the entire area again with the lighter color. This will not contaminate your markers, but will blend the colors together nicely. For the tulips I colored in half of each petal with the Perfect Plum marker and added shadow lines with the fine point of the Elegant Eggplant marker and then went over the area with a blender pen to really blend the colors into the white area of the petals.

The basket was colored in with a Crumb Cake marker, shadows added with the Sahara Sand marker, and then colored over again with the Crumb Cake markers. The same method was used for the bird with Bashful Blue and Marina Mist; and the ground with Pear Pizzaz and Old Olive. The peach parfait was used just to color in the teeny tiny bird beak.

The colored image panel was adhered to a piece of Concord Crush cardstock that was cut at 2 3/8” x 2 3/8” and then this panel was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Lots of Tags Sizzlit was used with a scrap of Blushing Bride cardstock to cut out the label. The greeting from With All My Heart was stamped in Concord Crush and the edges of the label were sponged with Blushing Bride ink. A rhinestone was added to the center of the flower and the label was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
