Watercolor Stamping Tutorial

This project works with a two-step stamp set. I used Stippled Blossoms for this project and it turned out lovely. 

First make sure your work table is cleaned off or your have a trash bag covering your work area. This can get a little bit messy. You may want to wear an apron too, just in case. This is dye ink after all.

Add a few drops of two or three different re-inker colors onto a piece of plastic. The top of one of the old Wood Mount cases works great. Just take some Craft and Rubber Scissors and cut the case at the hinge and you have a great palate!  Here I used Bashful Blue, Elegant Eggplant, and Pink Pirouette for the flowers then on a separate palate Lucky Limeade and Daffodil Delight for the leaves.

Now just spray your Reinker dots with some water in a Stampin’ Spritzer. The colors will run together a bit and you’ll have what looks like a wet mess.

Now take your solid image stamp and press it in your colored water then stamp it on your card stock. When you pull up the stamp image splashes and drips of water will fly around. That’s okay. It makes it look more artsy and fun have those little drips and splatters. Repeat to stamp all your images.

Now you may be worried that the images look so muddy and horrible because the ink blended too much. Just let the paper dry. If you’re impatient use your heat tool on the 1^st setting to dry the ink/water. The stamped images really brighten up a lot once the card stock is dry.

Now stamp the detailed images in Versamark, cover with White embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat it with your Heat Tool. The images won’t line up perfectly so don’t try too hard.

Now you have a really fun watercolor look! It’s pretty messy, but oh so much fun!
