Fab Halloween

I created this for the Fab Friday challenge that was posted a couple of weeks ago, but alas, I didn't get it posted to the website in time. It’s still a pretty fabulous Halloween card in my opinion. So here is how I made it.

  • Stamps: Wicked Cool, Delightful Dozen
  • DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone
  • Card Stock: Basic Gray, Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie
  • Ink: Versamark, Basic Gray, Cajun Craze
  • Accessories: Window Frames Framelits, Paper Piercer, Stampin’ PierceMat, Glimmer Brads, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Small Oval Punch, 2-Way Glue Pen,Paper Snips, Silver Dazzling Details, Dazzling Details, Stamping Sponge,Fesitve Paper Piercing Pack

Here was the Fab Friday sketch challenge:

This card really is pretty simple. I started off with a piece of Basic Gray card stock cut 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. I cut two strips of Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP 3/4” x 4” and one strip 1” x 4-1/4”. I used Paper Snips to cut one end into a dove-tail shape and adhered the three banners next to one another on the card front.

I used the Window Frames Framlits on a scrap of Whisper White and a scrap of Basic Black card stock. I stamped the bats from Wicked Cool all over the Whisper White window frame in Basic Gray ink. To get the two shades of bats ink up the image then stamp the image onto the card stock twice before re-inking the stamp. I used my Embossing Buddy on the label then stamped the greeting from Delightful Dozen onto the card stock in Versamark ink. I covered the stamped image with Black embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with my Heat Tool until it was shiny.

I used the Festive Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Piercer, and Stampin’ Pierce Mat to add pierced holes around the edge of the Basic Black label. Then I adhered the stamped Whisper White window frame onto the larger Basic Black window frame.  I applied Silver Dazzling Details onto the wings of the darker bats, and regular Dazzling Details onto the wings of the lighter bats. I set this aside to dry.

Next I used the Small Oval punch on a scrap of Pumpkin Pie card stock to punch out three ovals. I sponged around the edges of all three ovals with Cajun Craze ink. Then I adhered two of the ovals behind one oval with 2-Way Glue Pen to make it look like a pumpkin. I had a small strip of Lucky Limeade card stock that was a scrap so I cut off about a 1” long piece and adhered it behind the pumpkin for a stem.

Once the Dazzling Details dried completely I adhered the window frames layer onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then adhered the pumpkin onto the label with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Then I used the Paper Piercer and Stampin’ Pierce mat to pierce three holes in the bottom right hand corner of the card front and added three Glimmer Brads.

I just love how this Halloween card turned out! I will have to tryharder to get my Fab Friday cards posted earlier in the future.

Christmas Sparkle Friday Mashup 81

I’m a late getting this posted, but better late than never right? I’ve got Christmas on the brain lately and this challenge was so much fun! I combined the Fab Friday color challenge with the Friday Mashup 81 challenge to create this beauty.

  • Stamps: Ornament Keepsakes, More Merry Messages
  • Card Stock: Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
  • Ink: Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse
  • Accessories: Glimmer Paper, Holiday Ornaments Framelits, Delicate Designs, Large Scallop Edgelit, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Silver Glimmer Paper

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project with a "Christmas Ornament".
  2. Or Make a project with some "Sparkle".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Christmas Project with some Sparkle".

I started off by cutting a piece of Island Indigo card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. Then I ran the card stock through the Big Shot with the Large Scallop Edgelit to cut the lovely scallops. Then I ran the card stock through the Big Shot again but this time with the Delicate Designs embossing folder to add the embossed pattern.

Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock. 2-1/2” x 5-1/2”. I stamped the ornament from Ornament Keepsakes three times onto the Whisper White card stock in Summer Starfruit ink.  I stamped another ornament on a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Midnight Muse ink.  I also stamped the greeting from More Merry Messages onto the bottom of the Whisper White strip in Island Indigo ink.  I adhered the stamped Whisper White card stock onto a 2-5/8” x 5-1/2” piece of Summer Starfruit card stock and adhered this onto the card front.

I ran the Island Indigo ornament through the Big Shot with the Holiday Ornaments framelit to cut out the ornament. I adhered the ornament on top of the stamped Whisper White card stock with a couple Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next I cut two strips of Silver Glimmer Paper 1/4” x 3”. I adhered one on top of the bottom Summer Starfruit ornament and the second behind the Island Indigo ornament. I used Paper Snips to trim off any Glimmer Paper that extended past the end of the card. Just to add a little more sparkle I cut a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper 1/2” x 2-1/2” and adhered it just above the greeting on the Whisper White panel.

I love how simple this is and the non-traditional colors! What do you think?

Ornament Keepsakes Class!

I’m sure you have seen the beautiful ornament on the front of the Holiday Catalog. Isn’t it just exquisite?  Would you like to make one of your own? Well then this is the class for you! On Friday November 30th I will be hosting this class in my home at 7:00 PM. You will have the chance to make one of your own. I have several color combinations available as well. Take a look at the beautiful options.

When: November 30th, 2012   7:00 PM
Where: My home

The requirements for the class: You must bring your own die cut machine. As long as it will work with the thin metal dies you are good to go (Big Shot, Cuttlebug, etc.). It takes a long time to die cut all of the shapes. If you and a friend would like to share one die cut machine that is fine, but you must bring it! I recommend having no more than two people use one die cut machine.

You must pay for the class prior to November 16th to reserve your spot! Payments may be completed with Paypal or in person. Please let me know in the notes section of your Paypal payment which color combination you would like.
