Polka Dot Christmas

I have another sketch challenge card to share with you today! Take a look at this fun, kinda wonky, Christmas card. It makes me think of The Grinch (which I watch every year at least once!). So even though it's well past Christmas, here you go!

  • Stamps: Sassy Salutations, Scentsational Season
  • DSP: Holly Berry Bouquet (retired)
  • Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Gumball Green, Versamark
  • Accessories: Snow Burst embossing folder (retired), Champagne Glimmer Paper, Cherry Cobbler embossing powder, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals, 2-Way Glue Pen, Merry Minis Punch Pack, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Fancy Favor Box die, Paper Snips, 1” Square Punch
This card was created using the SCCSC141 sketch which was drawn up by yours truly!

I started off by cutting a piece of Crumb Cake card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. Next I cut a piece of Holly Berry Bouquet DSP (retired) 4-1/4” x 4-1/4”. Then I placed the DSP onto my paper cutter and cut off a random angle from the bottom. I adhered this onto the card front. Next I took a scrap of Cherry Cobbler paper that was left over from cutting out a Fancy Favor box and adhered it just below the DSP. I used Paper Snips to trim off the excess paper extending past the edge of the card front. I also cut a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper 1/8” x 5” and adhered it just above the top edge of the Cherry Cobbler card stock trim with a  2-Way Glue Pen then trimmed the excess even with the edge of the card front.

For the greeting I stamped the image from Sassy Salutations onto the bottom of the Crumb Cake card stock in Versamark, then covered the stamped image in Cherry Cobbler embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with my heat tool.

Next I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 1-7/8” x 2-1/8” and stamped the tree from Scensational Season onto the card stock in Gumball Green ink. I adhered this onto a 2” x 2-1/4” piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock and adhered it onto the upper left hand corner of the card front. I used the star punch from the Merry Minis Punch Pack to cut out a Champagne Glimmer Paper star and adhered it onto the top of the tree with 2-Way Glue Pen.

Finally I punched two squares from a scrap of Crumb Cake card stock with my 1” Square Punch and ran them through the Big Shot in the Snow Burst embossing folder. I adhered these onto the card front right next to the tree panel. To finish it off I used some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details on the polka dots on the tree so it matches the DSP.

What do you think?

Candy Cane Christmas

I like to give my Make and Take guests ideas for their Christmas cards. July through December there is always at least one Christmas card at the Make and Take. That way the ladies have ideas for their cards, or have enough already made by the time Christmas comes. So here is the Christmas card that we made for the October Make and Take that I am just now getting around to posting!

  • Stamps: Scentsational Season, More Merry Messages
  • DSP: Candlelight Christmas
  • Card Stock: Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
  • Ink: Lucky Limeade, Cherry Cobbler
  • Accessories: Holiday Collection Framelits, Lacy Brocade embossing folder, Champagne Glimmer Paper, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I started off with a 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” piece of Lucky Limeade card stock that was scored at 4-1/4”. Next I cut a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”. Then I cut a piece of Candlelight Christmas DSP 1-3/4” x 4-3/4”. I adhered the DSP onto the bottom of the small Lucky Limeade card stock. Then I ran the card stock through the Big Shot with just the Lucky Limeade half inside the Lacy Brocade embossing folder. This was adhered onto a 3-3/4” x 5” piece of Whisper White card stock and then onto the card front. I cut a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper 1/4” x 4-3/4” and adhered it onto the card front where the Lucky Limeade meets the DSP.

Next I stamped two candy canes from Scentsational Season onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Cherry Cobbler ink. I ran these through the Big Shot with the Holiday Collection framelit to cut out the candy cane and used 2-way glue pen to adhere the candy canes together. Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 1” x 3-1/4”. I stamped the greeting from More Merry Messages onto the card stock in Lucky Limeade ink and used Paper Snips to cut the dove-tail in one end. I adhered the other end of the greeting banner behind the candy canes with 2-Way Glue Pen. The candy canes and banner were adhered onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

So are you gearing up for Christmas? What do you do to get everything done in time?

Dry Erase Board Gift Set:

Make this Dry Erase Board with the coordinating pen and cup for a sweet project for a friend, or maybe even make one for yourself! It’s a simple project, with some great ‘up-cycling’ ideas using your Stampin’ Up! supplies. And just think of how many ways you can change up the board to fit your needs – a grocery list, kids’ chores… the possibilities are endless!

Spice Cake Leaves

Good morning! I have a swap card to share with you today! I made this one recently for a swap that uses fabric on a card. So this is what I made.

  • Stamps: Gently Falling, Sassy Salutations
  • Card Stock: Pool Party, More Mustard, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
  • Ink: More Mustard, Pool Party, Early Espresso
  • Accessories: Spice Cake fabric, Chevron Embossing folder, Corner Rounder punch

I started off by cutting a piece of Pool Party card stock 4-1/4” x 11” and scored it at 5-1/2”. I cut a piece of Early Espresso card stock 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”. Then I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 3-3/8” x 4-5/8”. I used the Corner Rounder punch on the right sides of all three pieces. Then I stamped the leaf images onto the Very Vanilla card stock in More Mustard and Pool Party ink. To get the two shades of color ink up the solid image stamp with ink, then stamp it off onto a scrap paper before stamping it onto the Very Vanilla card stock. Then stamp the outline image as you would regularly. This makes the solid image lighter than the outline and gives a very nice subtle contrast between the two. I stamped the greeting from Sassy Salutations on top of the leaves in Early Espresso card stock.

Next I cut a piece of More Mustard card stock 1-1/2” x 3-3/8” and ran it through the Big Shot in the Chevron embossing folder. Then I adhered this onto the left side of the Very Vanilla card stock. I adhered this layer onto the Early Espresso card stock, and then onto the card front. For the fabric part I cut a piece of Spice Cake fabric 1” x 18”, wrapped it around the card front, and tied it into a knot. It’s as simple as that!

Part of the challenge was also to decorate the inside so I stamped the solid image of the leaf down the right edge of the inside of the card in Pool Party ink, then I stamped the line image on top of the leaves in Early Espresso ink. This added a very nice and simple border to the inside of the card.

I just love this color combo! What do you think?

Wishing For Spring

I’ve been wishing and hoping for spring to come for a while now. So what better way to wish for spring than make Easter cards with cute little bunny rabbits on it? Take a look at the card I made for last week’s Friday Mashup challenge!

  • Stamps: Everybunny, Oh Hello
  • DSP: Sycamore Street
  • Card Stock: Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Whisper White
  • Ink: Black Stazon, Pool Party, Island Indigo
  • Markers: Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Blender Pen
  • Accessories: Paper Piercer, Stampin’ Pierce mat, Pewter Brads, Labels Framelits, Paper Snips, 2-1/2” Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project "using the Sketch".
  2. Or Make a project with "Bunnies".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with the "Sketch featuring Bunnies".

I started off by cutting apiece of Lucky Limeade card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. Next I cut a piece of Sycamore Street DSP (that you can still get for FREE during Sale-A-Bration) 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”. I adhered the DSP onto the card front then used my Paper Piercer and Stampin’ Pierce mat to pierce holes in each corner of the DSP and added a Pewter Brad in each hole.

Next I used my Big Shot to cut a scrap of Island Indigo card stock with the label framelit. I cut a piece of Pool Party card stock 1” x 3-1/2” and stamped the chevron image from Oh Hello onto the strip in Pool Party ink. Then I used Paper Snips to cut the end of the strip into a dove-tail shape before adhering this piece onto the Island Indigo label.

I stamped the bunny from Everybunny onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Black Stazon ink then stamped the greeting just below the bunny in Island Indigo ink. I punched this out with the 2-1/2” Circle punch then colored in the bunny image.

Tip: One easy way to add more dimension to a colored image is to color in an area with your Stampin’ Up marker. Then, use the same color marker to color over the areas where you want to add shadow.

For the bunny I colored my Sahara Sand and Pink Pirouette makers on a clear stamp block and used my Blender Pen to pick up just a tiny bit of color to add shadow to the bunny’s white fur and just a little pink in the ears and on the nose. Once I was finished with my coloring I sponged around the edge of the punched circle with Pool Party ink and adhered the circle onto the Island Indigo label. The label was adhered onto the card front with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.  So cute and easy!

If you have a chance, head on over to the Friday Mashup and see what the rest of the design team has created! I hope you get a chance to play along!

Primrose Birthday

I created this card for my big sis for her birthday several months ago. Her favorite color is pink, in case it wasn't obvious. Take a look!

  • Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Beautiful Birthday
  • Card Stock: Primrose Petals, Whisper White
  • Ink: Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Versamark
  • Accessories: Embossing Buddy, Clear embossing powder, Heat Tool, Sponge Dauber, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Paper Piercer, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, Silver Brads, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Primrose Petals Stitched Satin ribbon

I started off by cutting a piece of Primrose Petals card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. Then I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 4” x 5-1/4”. I stamped the swirls from Everything Eleanor onto the bottom of the card stock several times in Versamark ink. I covered the stamped image with Clear embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with my Heat Tool until it was shiny. I sponged on Primrose Petals and then Raspberry Ripple ink.  I adhered this onto the card front then wrapped a piece of Primrose Petals Stitched Satin ribbon around the card and tied it into a knot.

Next I stamped the greeting from Beautiful Birthday onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Primrose Petals ink. Then I cut out the greeting with the Apothecary Accents Framelit in the Big Shot. I used my Paper Piercer and Stampin’ Pierce Mat to pierce a hole in each end of the label and added a silver brad. I adhered this onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Simple yet pretty, what do you think?

Indigo Gift Card Holder

Here is the second gift card holder that I made for the swap I mentioned yesterday. I like to give gift cards as a gift because then the recipient can get what they want, but I like to personalize it a bit more by presenting it in a pretty way. So here is another pretty way to give a gift card as a gift!

  • Stamps: Very Vintage Wheel, Daydream Medallions
  • Card Stock: Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight
  • Ink: Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade
  • Accessories: Silver Glimmer Paper, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Paper Piercer, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, 2-Way Glue Pen, Sticky Strip, Floral Frames Framelits, Silver Brads

I started off with a piece of Island Indigo card stock cut at 4-1/4” x 5-3/4”. With the 5-3/4” side against the top of my Simply Scored I scored it at 1-3/4” and 4-1/4”. I used the Scallop Edge Border Punch on the longer of the two flaps. I used the Very Vintage wheel on the shorter flap with Island Indigo ink.

For the flower I stamped the image from Daydream Medallions onto a scrap of Lucky Limeade card stock then cut out the shape by running it through the Big Shot with the Floral Frames Framelits. I used the Boho Blossoms punch to punch out the middle sized flower from Daffodil Delight card stock. I stacked the flowers on top of one another and positioned it close to the fold on the stamped flap. Then I used a Paper Piercer with my Stampin’ Pierce mat to pierce a hole through all three layers. A Silver Brad was added in the center of the flowers to hold it onto the gift card holder.

Next I cut a strip of Silver Glimmer Paper 1/4” x 4-1/4” and used the 2-Way Glue Pen to adhere the glimmer paper just above the scalloped edge. Then I flipped the card stock over and applied Sticky Strip onto the sides of the stamped tab just up to the first score line. At this point I folded on both score lines, then removed the Sticky Strip liner, folded the stamped flap up towards the middle and adhered it in place. This creates the pocket for the gift card. Then to close it fold the scalloped flap down and tuck the scalloped edge behind the flower.

It’s that simple! Not to mention cute! Have you been making any gift card holders lately?

A Gift Card Holder for You!

I participated in another swap not that long ago. This one was for Gift Card holders. So here is the first one that I made. I’ve seen one similar to this somewhere, but I don’t remember where. But here it is with a tutorial!

  • Stamps: Bring on the Cake, Betsy’s Blossoms
  • DSP: Comfort Café
  • Card Stock: Summer Starfruit, Whisper White, Pool Party
  • Ink: Pool Party, Island Indigo
  • Accessories: 1” Circle Punch, 1-1/4” Circle Punch, Rhinestones, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Word Window Punch, Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive

This was a fun gift card holder to make. When you open it up the gift card just pops up and there is room to write a message.

1. To start off I cut a piece of Summer Starfruit card stock 4-1/4” x 5-1/4”. With the 5-1/4” side against the top of your Simply Scored, score at 2-5/8”. Fold on the score line.

2. Next cut a piece of Summer Starfruit card stock 4” x 6-1/2”. With the 6-1/2” side against the top of your Simply Scored, score at 2-1/2”, 3-1/2”, 4”. Fold it in half. Use the Word Window punch and position the punch so that it is half-way over the fold of the card stock and the card stock lines up with the outside of the punch. Repeat on the other side to cut out one long window.

3. Fold the card stock on the score lines accordion-style so that it looks like a W. Use Multipurpose Liquid glue just on the larger flaps and adhere the flaps inside the folded piece from Step 1. Now you can insert your gift card into the slot that you made with the Word Window punch.

4. To decorate the front I cut a piece of Comfort Café DSP 2-1/8” x 3-7/8” and adhered it onto a 2-1/4” x 4” piece of Whisper White card stock. This layer was adhered onto the front of the gift card holder.

5. Now for the belly band. Cut a piece of Pool Party card stock 3/4” x 6”. With the 6” side against the top of your Simply Scored, score at 1-5/8” and 4-3/8”. Fold on the score lines. Wrap the strip around the middle of the gift card holder and adhered one end of the strip on top of the other end with just a tiny bit of Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

6. Stamp the large flower from Betsy’s Blossoms in Pool Party ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock. Stamp the greeting from Bring on the Cake into the center of the flower in Island Indigo ink. Punch out the greeting with the 1” Circle punch. Use the 1-1/4” Circle punch on a scrap of Summer Starfruit card stock. Adhere the stamped circle on top of the Summer Starfruit circle. Adhere the greeting onto the belly band with a Stampin’ Dimensional. For just a little bit of bling add one large Rhinestone onto the belly band on either side of the greeting.

This is a super cute way to present a gift card to someone special!

Season's Greetings

Here is another swap card for you! This time it’s a Christmas card!

  • Stamps: Tags Till Christmas, More Merry Messages
  • Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
  • DSP: Be of Good Cheer
  • Ink: Gumball Green, Versamark
  • Accessories: Labels Framelits, Ornament Punch, Gold Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Pearls, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I started off with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4”. Next I cut a piece of Gumball Green card stock just large enough to fit the second-largest Label Framelit and ran that through the Big Shot to cut the label shape. I used my paper cutter to cut the label in half length-wise and adhered it onto the card base.

Next I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock 2-1/4” x 5-1/2”. I stamped the greeting from More Merry Messages onto the bottom of the card stock in Versamark ink. I covered the stamped image with Gold embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with the heat tool. Next I cut a piece of Be of Good Cheer DSP 2-1/4” x 3” and adhered it onto the Cherry Cobbler card stock. Then I adhered this layer onto the left side of the card front.

For the ornament I stamped the ornament image from Tags Till Christmas in Gumball Green ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock. I punched out the ornament with the Ornament punch and adhered it to the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Just to add a little shimmer I added a single Pearl into the center of the ornament. That’s it!

Christmas cards are my favorite ones to make. I don’t know why. I guess they just get me in the Christmas spirit. Christmas is creeping up on us fast. I had better get my Christmas cards done soon!

What are your favorite kind of cards to make?

Here's to You Swap

Today I have a swap card to share with you! Swaps are such a great way to get new ideas for cards and new products! I participated in this one shortly after the new catalog came out for Demos to view. When I saw the new catalog I instantly fell in love with Serene Silhouettes. So for one of my swap cards I chose to ink up that stamp set to create some nice cards. Take a look:

  • Stamps: Serene Silhouettes, Friendly Phrases
  • Card Stock: Midnight Muse, Cajun Craze, Whisper White
  • Ink: Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Summer Starfruit, Versamark
  • Accessories: Stampin’ Sponge, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Argyle embossing folder, Black embossing powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Midnight Muse Stitched Satin ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Post-It Note, 1” Circle Punch

I started off this card by cutting a piece of Midnight Muse card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. I ran the card front through the Big Shot in the Argyle embossing folder. Next I cut a piece of Whisper White and a piece of Cajun Craze card stock 5-1/4” x 3-1/4” and ran each of them through the Big Shot with the Apothecary Accents Framelit.

I used the 1” Circle Punch on a Post-It Note making sure to get as much of the sticky part inside the circle as possible. I placed the circle onto the Whisper White card stock where I wanted my sun to be. I also placed a Post-It Note over the bottom section of the label where I wanted my greeting. Then I sponged the Whisper White card stock with Summer Starfruit, More Mustard, and Cajun Craze to create the sunset.  I removed the circle mask and sponged just a little bit of Summer Starfruit and More Mustard inside the circle to add some shading to my sun.

I stamped the image from Serene Silhouettes in Versamark onto the sponged card stock, covered the stamped image with Black embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with the heat tool to make the image shiny.

I removed the remaining Post-It Note mask and stamped the greeting from Friendly Phrases onto the bottom of the label in Midnight Muse ink. Next I took the Cajun Craze label and used Paper Snips to cut the label in half length-wise. I adhered the label halves behind the stamped Whisper White card stock and used the Paper Snips again to trim off the points that extend out past the Whisper White card stock.

Finally I wrapped a piece of Midnight Muse Stitched Satin ribbon around the label and tied it into a knot then simply adhered the label onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I really like the high contrast between the Midnight Muse, shades of yellow and orange, and the white at the bottom! I just love this card! Unfortunately I didn’t make sure to make an extra for me to keep, so every one of these went off to the swap.

What stamp set did you immediately like after seeing the new catalog for the first time?
