Secret Garden

I'm a little late with this challenge, but better late then never right? I combined this challenge with the SCCSC157 sketch challenge on Stampin Connection to knock two challenges out at once. Take a look!

  • Stamps: Secret Garden, Delightful Dozen
  • Card Stock: Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
  • Ink: Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Black Stazon
  • Markers: Blender Pen, Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango, Primrose Petals, Rose Red
  • Accessories: Sycamore Street Ribbon, Honeycomb embossing folder, Paper Snips
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Stampin’ Sponge

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project "using your Markers (thumping,Color Spritzing,Coloring etc.)".
  2. Or Make a project with "Texture".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with "Texture using your Markers".

Here is the sketch that was created by Liz Goldhawk:

I started off by cutting a piece of Pool Party card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”.
Next I cut a piece of Calypso Coral card stock 3-3/4” x 5” and a piece of Whisper White card stock 3-5/8” x 4-7/8”.

I stamped the leaf image from Secret Garden onto the center of the Whisper White card stock in Lucky Limeade ink, and the small solid blossom image from Secret Garden in Pool Party ink. Next I stamped the greeting from Delightful Dozen in Calypso Coral ink below the leaves and flowers. I ran this piece of card stock through the Big Shot in the Honeycomb embossing folder. I sponged around the edges of the panel with Pool Party ink then adhered the card stock onto the Calypso Coral card stock.

I wrapped a piece of Pool Party ribbon around the panel and tied it into a knot. This is some of the ribbon in the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button pack that you can get for FREE during Sale-A-Bration, and it is gorgeous! I adhered the panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the large flower image from Secret Garden onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Black Stazon ink. Coloring in the flower took several steps. First I squeezed the center of the closed Calypso Coral and Primrose Petals ink pads and opened them half-way. I used my Blender pen to pick up a little bit of Calypso coral and colored in every other section of petal. Then I picked up a little bit of Primrose Petal ink and colored in the remaining petal sections. At this point you have a very light colored flower.

Next I used the Calypso Coral and Primrose Petals markers to color on the respective petal sections about 2/3 the way down the length of each petal. Then I used Tangerine Tango on the Calypso Coral sections and Rose Red on the Primrose Petals sections to color about 1/2 way down the length of the petals. I went over the petals one more time with the Tangerine Tango and Rose Red marker only coloring about 1/4 way down the length of the petal this time. Finally I colored over the entire thing with just the Blender pen with no ink to blend the colors a little bit better.

I cut out the flower with Paper Snips and adhered it onto the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Then I added a small Rhinestone into the center of the flower just to add a little bit of sparkle!

What do you think?

Be Mine!

I have another sketch challenge for you! I was having fun playing with some of the new goodies from the Spring Catalog a while back and came up with the fun valentine’s card. This was created with the SCCSC128 sketch challenge.

  • Stamps: I {Heart} Hearts (retired), Mixed Medley
  • DSP: More Amore
  • Card Stock: Pool Party, Whisper White, Real Red
  • Ink: Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Real Red
  • Accessories: Red Glimmer Paper, 1-1/4” Scalloped Circle Punch, 3/4” Circle punch, Triple Heart Punch (retired), 3” Circle Die, Scallop Edge Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, 2-Way Glue Pen, Paper Snips

Here is the sketch that was created by Susie Nelson:

I started off by cutting a piece of Pool Party card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. Next I cut a piece of the More Amore DSP from the Spring Catalog 3-1/2” x4-1/4”. I cut a piece of Real Red card stock 1” x 4-1/4” and punched one edge with the Scallop Edge border punch. I adhered the Real Red scalloped  piece behind the DSP, then adhered this layer onto the card front.

Next I cut a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock with the 3” Circle die. I stamped the hearts from I {Heart} Hearts in Sahara Sand, Pool Party, and Real Red ink. I used the retired Triple Heart Punch on a piece of Red Glimmer Paper then used 2-Way Glue Pen to adhere the hearts inside the red dot stamped hearts on the circle. Some of the hearts extended past the edge of the circle, so I cut those even with the circle with Paper Snips. I adhered this piece onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally I stamped the “be mine” image from Mixed Medley onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock once in Pool Party ink and once in Real Red ink. I punched out the Pool Party image with the 1-1/4” Scalloped Circle punch and the Real Red image with the 3/4” Circle punch.  I adhered the red “be mine” into the center of the stamped Pool Party image with 2-Way Glue Pen before adhering the scalloped circle onto the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I added just a tiny bit of Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details inside the small heart on the greeting.

I love the combination of colors and hearts in this DSP!

Thinking of You Valentine

I made a few of these cards for a swap a while ago. Now that Valentine ’s Day is only a few days away, I’m finally getting around to posting it. Take a look!

  • Stamps: You Are Loved, Hearts a Flutter
  • Card Stock:  Pool Party, Whisper White
  • Ink: Basic Gray, Illuminate
  • Accessories: Hearts A Flutter Framelit, Heart Punch, Basic Gray 1/4” Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Foil Smooch Spritz, Red Glimmer Paper, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber

This card was fun to make, but I kept adding more things to it as I went along. Finally I had to say enough is enough.  I started off with a piece of Pool Party card stock cut at 4-1/4” x 11” and scored at 5-1/2”. I stamped the heart images from Hearts a Flutter all over the card front in Illuminate Versamark ink. This gives a subtle shimmer to the stamped images in the background. Next I used the scalloped heart framelit from the Hearts a Flutter set and cut the scalloped heart opening in the card front. I used a Sponge Dauber and Basic Gray ink to sponge around the inside of the scalloped heart opening to make it stand out. Then I stamped the greeting from You are Loved beneath the heart cut out in Basic Gray ink.

I wanted to add some splatter to the card so I sprayed on some Silver Foil Smooch Spritz on the card front. Next I cut a piece of Sycamore Street DSP 1-1/2” x 4-1/4” and adhered it onto the left side of the card front. I wrapped some Basic Gray 1/4” Stitched Grosgrain ribbon around the card front and tied it into a knot.

Now for the inside. I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 4” x 5-1/4”. I stamped the pretty heart from You are Loved in the bottom right hand corner in Pool Party ink. Instead of trying to get the heart positioned so the glimmer heart would be centered, I intentionally stamped the Pool Party heart tilted so it wouldn’t be obvious if the hearts weren’t perfectly lined up. I adhered this panel inside the card.

Finally I used the large Heart Punch on a piece of Red Glimmer Paper. I added a Stampin’ Dimensional onto the back of the heart. I closed the card and adhered the glimmer paper heart centered inside the scalloped heart window.

So much fun!

Manly Valentine

It’s difficult to come up with a Valentine’s card for a guy that’s not girly, or pink, or full of sparkle. There are so many wonderfully pink and frilly things in the new Spring Catalog that I’m just itching to use, but I have to ignore them for a while longer and make a manly valentine card. I always try to have one masculine card design at my Make and Take classes. This is the masculine card from the January Make and Take. Take a look!

  • Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • DSP: Basic Black
  • Card Stock: Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Gray
  • Ink: Basic Gray
  • Accessories: Fancy Fan embossing folder, Triple Heart Punch (retired), Large Heart Punch, Red Glimmer Paper, 2-1/2” Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, Real Red 1/4” Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon

I started off by cutting a piece of Whisper White card stock 4-1/4” x 11” and scored it at 5-1/2”. I cut a piece of Real Red card stock 2-1/4” x 4-1/4” and a piece of Basic Black polka dot DSP 2” x 4-1/4”. I adhered the DSP onto the Real Red card stock, then adhered this layer onto the left side of the card front.

Next I used the 2-1/2” Circle punch on the bottom right corner of the card front to create a window to the inside of the card. I stamped the simple greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes just above the punched window in Basic Gray ink. To finish up the card front I simply tied a piece of Real Red 1/4” Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon around the card front into a knot.

Next I used the Large Heart punch on a scrap of Basic Gray card stock and ran the punched heart through the Big Shot in the Fancy Fan embossing folder. With the card closed, I used a Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere the heart onto the inside of the card centered in the circle window.

I usually don’t use retired products at the Make and Take classes. I want to show off all the new tools so my customers can get their hands on them and then order them if they like it, but the Triple Heart Punch that retired a while ago was just too perfect for this card to not use. So I used the Triple Heart Punch on a piece of Red Glimmer Paper and I adhered the glimmer hearts onto the textured Basic Gray heart with some Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

That’s it! Quick, simple, and only a little bit of glimmer. What do you think?
