Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using "Hexagons".
  2. Create a "Girly project".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Girly project using Hexagons".

This card was so much fun to make! I started out with a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece of Strawberry Slush card stock and scored it at 4-1/4". Then I cut a piece of Whisper white card stock 4" x 5-1/4". I stamped the En Francais background stamp onto the card stock in Pink Pirouette ink. For the greeting I stamped the image from Perfectly Penned onto the top of the card stock in Strawberry Slush ink. I love this bright and fun new pink!

Next I cut a piece of Shimmery White card stock 3-3/4" x 3". I stamped the medium image from Flowering Flourishes onto the card front in Versamark ink. Then I covered the stamped images with Clear embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with my heat tool.

What did I do to add the hexagon pattern you ask? Well I ran the heat embossed Shimmery White card stock through the Big Shot in the Honeycomb embossing folder. Next I placed my double embossed card stock in an empty large wood mount case and spritzed water all over the card stock with a Stampin' Mister. I added a couple drops of Strawberry Slush re-inker into another plastic container and used my Aqua Painter to pick up just a little bit of the ink at a time and brushed it on the wet card stock. You can watch the color flow around like magic. I just kept brushing on color until I liked how it looked then picked it up out of the container and used my Heat Tool on the 1st setting to dry the card stock.

This left a really cool variegated color in the background of my embossing. I adhered this fabulous piece of card stock onto the bottom of the stamped Whisper White card stock. Then I wrapped a piece of Pink Pirouette ribbon around the panel and tied it into a knot. I adhered this layer onto the card front with a few Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I simply added three pearls into each corner of the Whisper White card stock.

After I received my most recent order I just had to play around with the Simply Pressed Clay and the Buttons and Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Molds! I made several flowers. I took one of the large roses and used my Aqua Painter to color the rose with Strawberry Slush ink. I let that dry completely then sponged on some more Strawberry Slush ink to bring out the layers of the rose. I adhered this onto the card right under the bow with a Stampin' Dimensional then placed a Large Pearl Basic Jewel in the center of the rose.

This card is so completely girly! I love how the hexagons are subtle and in the background.

If you have a chance head on over to the Friday Mashup to see what the rest of the design team has created and enter your project!

Roses for Mom

Today’s card is the one that I made for my Mom for Mother’s Day. For her gift I picked up a Yellow English Rose plant for her to add to her rose garden. So I thought it would be fitting to use Stippled Blossoms to make a card full of yellow roses!

  • Stamps: Stippled Blossoms, Something to Celebrate (retired)
  • Card Stock: Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla, Whisper White
  • Ink: So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Versamark
  • Accessories: Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Gold embossing powder, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Whisper White Organza ribbon

I started off by cutting a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. Next I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 3-3/4” x 5”. I stamped the solid flower images from Stippled Blossoms onto the card stock in So Saffron, then the detailed flower images in Daffodil Delight. The solid leaves were stamped in Certainly Celery then the detailed leaves were stamped in Old Olive. For the smaller flowers I used markers in the same colors as the larger flowers to ink up the stamps.

After my background was all stamped up I stamped the greeting from Something to Celebrate in Versamark ink onto the card stock. I covered the stamped image with Gold embossing powder and heated it with my heat tool. I adhered this panel onto a 3-7/8” x 5-1/8” piece of Whisper White card stock.

I wrapped a piece of Whisper White Organza ribbon around the panel and tied it into a bow. I adhered this panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and was done! Super simple, and super pretty!

I Miss You Already!

Good morning! Today I’m going to share with you the last sketch challenge on Stampin’ Connection. The design team has decided that due to lack of participation and time constraints in our personal lives, that it is time to end the weekly sketch challenges. So here is challenge 172! I thought this greeting from Really Good Greetings was so fitting for this challenge!

  • Stamps: Really Good Greetings, Papillion Potpourri
  • DSP: Gingham Garden, Silver Glimmer Paper
  • Card Stock: Midnight Muse, Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White
  • Ink: Versamark, Coastal Cabana, Black Stazon
  • Accessories: Labels Framelits, Delicate Butterfly Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Sponge Dauber, Melon Mambo embossing powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Rhinestones, 2-Way Glue Pen, Glue Dots

Here is the sketch that was created by Liz Goldhawk:

SCCSC172

I wanted to work with what I already had scattered across my work table. Seriously, it looks like a tornado ripped through there….again! I can only manage to keep the table top clean for maybe a week. If that! Oh well… such is the life of a crafter. Anyway… I started off with a 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” piece of Midnight Muse card stock and scored it at 4-1/4”. Next I cut a piece of Gingham Garden DSP 2” x 5-1/2”. I stamped the greeting from Really Good Greetings onto the top of the DSP in Versamark ink, covered the stamped image with Melon Mambo embossing powder, and heated it with my heat tool. The greeting was blending in with the DSP colors too much for my liking, so I took a sponge dauber and sponged a Coastal Cabana halo around the greeting. Ahhh…. Much better!

Next I cut a piece of Coastal Cabana card stock 1/2” x 5-1/2” and adhered it right next to the DSP. I cut a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper 1/8” x 5-1/2” and adhered it on top of the Coastal Cabana card stock right next to the DSP. I just have to add bling you know.

The Strawberry Slush frame was in my scrap bin after being discarded from another project, so I grabbed it up, added a few pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the backside, and adhered it onto the card front.

For the centerpiece in the frame I stamped the larger butterfly from Papillion Potpourri onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Coastal Cabana ink. I stamped the smaller butterfly onto a scrap of Coastal Cabana car stock in Black Stazon ink. I punched out both butterflies with their coordinating punches, adhered them together, added some Rhinestones into the center of the smaller butterfly, and adhered the butterfly onto the card front with a Glue Dot.

I am a little sad to see this challenge end, but there are many past challenges that you can find on the Master Sketch Challenge List (if you’re a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator). I hope you get a chance to play along with this final sketch!

Amazing Mother

Good morning! I’m finally sharing the Mother’s Day cards that I made this year. This one was from the May Make and Take that was the week before Mother’s Day.

  • Stamps: Hello Doily, Just Believe, Amazing Family
  • DSP: Raspberry Ripple DSP
  • Card Stock: Rose Red, Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette
  • Ink: Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Raspberry Ripple, Versamark
  • Accessories: Labels Framelits, Dress Up Framelits, Sahara Sand Marker, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Melon Mambo Striped Organdy Ribbon, Melon Mambo embossing powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool

I started off by cutting a piece of Raspberry Ripple card stock 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. I stamped the Hello Doily image onto the card stock in Raspberry Ripple ink. Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3-1/2” x 4”. I stamped the top part of the greeting from Amazing Family onto the card stock in Raspberry Ripple ink. The bottom part of the greeting was stamped in Melon Mambo ink.

Just to add some background pattern to the greeting I stamped the flowers from Just Believe three times in Pink Pirouette ink. I cut out the greeting with the third from smallest Label Framelit in the Big Shot. I adhered the label onto the card front with some glue stick then wrapped a piece of Melon Mambo Striped Organdy Ribbon around the card front and tied it into a knot.

Now for the dress! I cut a piece of Sahara Sand card stock 2” x 5” and ran it through the Big Shot to cut out the dress form. Next I cut a piece of Raspberry Ripple DSP and Pink Pirouette card stock 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” and both through the Big Shot with the dress Framelit at the same time.
I stamped the flowers from Just Believe onto the DSP dress in Versamark ink. Then I covered the stamped image with Melon Mambo embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heated it with my heat tool. I love this added pop of pattern on top of the polka dots!

I took Paper Snips and cut the bodice portion off the Pink Pirouette dress and adhered the skirt portion behind the DSP dress to make it look like there is a pink petticoat under the dress. Then I adhered the dress onto the dress form. I took the fine point end of my Sahara Sand marker and drew a line on the dress form for the necklace chain, then added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel for the pendant. The dress form was adhered to the card front with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card is done!

Very bright and VERY pink! This one went to my mother in-law who loves pink.
