Make a Wish!

Good morning everyone! I have another card from the September Make and Take to share with you! This one was inspired by this card that was created by Heidi at RunningWScissorsStamper. Thanks so much for the inspiration Heidi!

  • Stamps: Sweet Essentials
  • DSP: Comfort Café
  • Card Stock: Sahara Sand, Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Soft Suede
  • Accessories: Argyle embossing folder, 1” Circle Punch, 1-3/8” Circle Punch, 1-3/4” Circle Punch

I started off with a piece of Sahara Sand card stock cut at 4-1/4” x 11” and scored at 5-1/2”. Next I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 3-5/8” x 4-7/8”. I stamped the greeting from Sweet Essentials onto the top portion of the card stock in Soft Suede ink. Next I used the 1”, 1-3/8”, and 1-3/4” Circle punches on pieces of Comfort Café DSP to punch out four circles from each size. I arranged the circles onto the card stock and adhered them in place. Then I used Paper Snips to trim off the circles that extend past the edge of the Very Vanilla card stock.

Next I ran this piece through the Argyle embossing folder to add texture to the entire panel, then I adhere this onto a 3-3/4” x 5” piece of Midnight Muse card stock. Finally I adhered this panel onto the card front.

That’s it! The hardest part is deciding which patterns to use and how you want to arrange the circles. The ladies at the Make and Take had a great time using their own creativity on this part. It was lots of fun to see the differences between each person’s creation and the sample. My sister even had the ingenious idea to pop up a couple circles with dimensionals for a layered effect which looked fabulous!

My Digital Studio to Card Stock

Good morning everyone! I have another September Make and Take card to share with you today. This one I actually CASED from a sample that was created entirely in My Digital Studio that was posted by Tara on her blog Can't Stamp the Rain. HERE is the link to Tara's MDS card. Here is my card stock version:

  • Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • Card Stock: Soft Suede, Whisper White
  • Ink: So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, Midnight Muse
  • Accessories: Apothecary Accents Framelits, Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon, Large Pearls, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Soft Suede Marker, craft knife, Medium Oval Punch

Isn’t it awesome how you can take a sample created in MDS and re-create it in card stock? I started off with a 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” piece of Soft Suede card stock and scored it at 4-1/4”. I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 4” x 5-1/4”. I stamped the swirl from Everything Eleanor onto the Whisper White card stock twice with So Saffron ink. I stamped the medium flower in Tempting Turquoise ink twice. Then I stamped the large flower and the label images in Midnight Muse ink.

I used a craft knife to cut a slit in the fold of the card where I wanted my ribbon to go. Then I treaded the ribbon through the slot, wrapped it around the card front and tied it into a knot. Now for the label! I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits to cut the label shape from Soft Suede card stock. I stamped the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Midnight Muse ink and punched it out with the Medium Oval punch. I adhered the stamped oval onto the Soft Suede label then used the fine point end of the Soft Suede marker to add stitch lines around the greeting oval. I adhered this onto the card front with a couple Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I finally added one large pearl into the center of the large flower.

This card is absolutely fabulous! I absolutely love how it turned out! Thanks so much Tara for the inspiration!

Have you gotten any fabulous ideas from My Digital Studio samples?

Season's Greetings!

I’ve got a sketch challenge for you today! I have quite a few that I need to catch up on (again) so you will be seeing several sketch challenge cards in the near future. Take a look at this fun holiday card!

  • Stamps: More Merry Messages
  • DSP: Candlelight Christmas
  • Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Early Espresso Coredinations
  • Ink: Cherry Cobbler
  • Accessories: 1-1/4” Scalloped Circle Punch, Snow Flurry Die, Champagne Glimmer Paper, Snow Burst embossing folder (retired), Pearls, hot glue gun, Crumb Cake Taffeta ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Here is the sketch that was created by Liz Goldhawk:

I started off with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock cut at 5-1/5” x 8-1/2” and scored it at 4-1/4”. I cut a piece of Early Espresso Coredinations card stock 4” x 5-1/4” and ran it through the Big Shot in the Snow Burst embossing folder. I used the handy dandy little sanding block to lightly sand the raised portion of the texture and then adhered this piece onto the card front.

Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 2-1/4” x 3-1/4”. I stamped the greeting from More Merry Messages onto the bottom of the card stock in Cherry Cobbler ink. Then I adhered this panel onto a 2-3/8” x 3-7/8” Cherry Cobbler card stock. I wrapped the panel with a piece of Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon and tied it into a bow then adhered the panel onto the card front with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I had the rosette left over from a sample I was making for a class. It was too big for what I wanted to use it for so I just tossed in my scrap bin. Now it has a new home! To make the rosette I cut a piece of Candlelight Christmas DSP 1” wide and scored it every 1/4”. I folded it accordion style and glued one end to the other to create a large circle of zig-zag paper. Then  you just push the top edge of the paper so it is laying on the table, carefully hold it tight in the center, and apply hot glue on the ends. (Maybe I should just make a tutorial for this). Next I used the 1-1/4” Scalloped Circle punch on a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper and used a little more hot glue to glue it onto the rosette.

The snowflake was cut with the Snow Flurry Die and adhered on top of the glimmer paper with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and a large pearl was added in the center of the snowflake. To adhere the rosette onto the Whisper White card stock I just applied a generous amount of Multipurpose Liquid Glue onto the card stock, placed the rosette on top, and left it to dry for about 20 minutes. I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t going to fall off.

Now this card is too thick to send in the mail, but would be a great accent to a hand-delivered Christmas gift!

My Thoughts Friday Mashup 83!

It's Friday again! I hope you're ready for a fun square challenge! Take a look at the card I made for this week's Friday Mashup:

  • Stamps: Field Flowers, Flowering Flourishes
  • DSP: Greenhouse Gala (retired)
  • Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White
  • Ink: Baja Breeze, Real Red
  • Accessories: Real Red Satin Ribbon (retired), Glimmer Brad, Stampin’ Dimensionals, needle, red thread, Brights Brads, Paper Piercer, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, Glue Dots

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project "using the Sketch".
  2. Or Make a project with "Rosettes".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with the "Sketch featuring Rosettes".

This was a fun challenge! I started off with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock cut 5” x 10” and scored it at 5”. Next I cut four pieces of Greenhouse Gala retired DSP 2” x 2” and adhered them onto four 2-1/8” x 2-1/8” pieces of Early Espresso card stock. I adhered these onto the card front being very careful to get them as straight as possible.

Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock ** x**. I stamped the flowery swirls from Flowering Flourishes onto the card stock in Baja Breeze ink to give it some pattern. Then I stamped the greeting from Field Flowers onto the card stock in Real Red ink. I adhered this onto a ** x** piece of Early Espresso card stock and adhered it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used my Paper Piercer and Stampin’ Pierce mat to pierce three holes in the upper right hand square for the three Real Red brads. Now for the posy. I cut a 9” piece of Real Red satin ribbon. I absolutely love this ribbon, but unfortunately it retired this last June. So I have plenty to use up!

I used a needle and some red thread and just stitched a large running stitch right along one edge of the ribbon. Once I got to the other end I pushed the ribbon up together on the thread and tied the thread ends into a knot to keep the ribbon in a tight gather. I tied a couple more knots in the thread just to be sure it doesn’t come loose and trimmed the thread ends close to the knot. Then I simply added a red Glimmer Brad into the center of the ruffled ribbon circle and adhered it onto the card front with a couple Glue Dots. Isn’t it cute? And so easy to make too! If my written instructions didn’t make any sense, take a look at the video below.
