The Men In Our Life Swap

I created both of these cards for the Men in Our Life Swap on Stampin Connection. The first one is a birthday card. The card base is Basic Grey. The bottom portion of the front of the card is Bermuda Bay which was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink with the Wood Grain background stamp. Both the Whisper White and Bermuda Bay panels in on the card are sponged with Basic Grey ink. Real Red ¼” grosgrain ribbon covers the seam between the top and bottom panels.

The main image is from Four Square and is stamped using the rock-n-roll technique with Bermuda Bay and Basic Grey ink on Whisper White cs. This is layered on Certainly Celery and Tempting Turquoise cs that has been sponged with Basic Grey. This is popped up off the base card with scrap rubber.

The second card started out with a Kraft base card that was stamped using the Wood Grain background stamp with Chocolate Chip ink. The sentiment from Happy Everything was stamped with Basic Black ink all the way at the bottom of the card. The main image panel is Whisper White cs. I first stamped the grass from Inspired By Nature in Old Olive ink. I then used my stamp-a-ma-jig with Versamark to stamp over the grass again and emboss it with clear embossing powder so it will resist the ink I brayer on later. I added a 1” circle cut from the sticky end of a post-it note to mask the sun. Then I used my brayer with Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, and Dusty Durango ink to achieve the sunset look. I removed the circle mask and sponged a little Crushed Curry in the sun to make it look like a sphere.

This was then cut out with the Top Note die. I also cut out a piece of Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango using the Top Note die. To make my layers I cut the top note in half and then cut the corners that come up to make the center point so they don’t show. Then I just adhere the top note halves to each side leaving a larger reveal on one. I then used hemp twine that I wrapped around the base and then tied a knot in the center. This is popped up of the card base with some scrap rubber.

Appealing Daisies

I created this card for the All About Color II Swap on Stampin Connection. The rules were to use Going Grey, a neutral (Whisper White or Very Vanilla), and a color from the Soft Subtles color family. I chose to use Apricot Appeal. The card base is Apricot Appeal with a mat of Going Grey that was embossed with the Final Press embossing folder and then inked using the direct to paper technique with Going Grey. Some ¼” Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon and three silver brads finish off the mat.

Accessories: Heat & Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Apricot Appeal ¼” grograin ribbon, silver brads, Final Press embossing folder

The main image panel is Whisper White cardstock that I stamped the daisies from Upsy Daisy in Versamark and embossed with Heat & Stick Powder and then Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Then I used my brayer to add Apricot Appeal around the daisies. The ink doesn’t stick to the glitter so this works similarly to the embossing resist technique. This was matted on a piece of Going Grey and another piece of Apricot Appeal which was popped up off the card with some scrap rubber. Featured Stamper Challenge SCFC8

Cardstock: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette (retired)
Paper: Raspberry Tart DSP (retired)
Ink: Black Stazon, SU markers
Accessories: SU watercolor crayons, aquapainter, Mistletoe ribbon (Holiday Mini)

For mine I used Kraft, Chocolate Chip, and Pink Pirouette (retired) for my cardstock and some Raspberry Tart DSP (retired). I stamped the frog and flowers from A Flower For All Seasons in black Stazon and colored it in with SU markers and the Aquapainter with SU watercolor crayons. The Mistletoe ribbon is from the Holiday Mini. I then used a marker to color “be happy” on the So Many Sayings (retired) stamp and stamped it on the Pink Pirouette strip and added three dots on each side with the marker. The frog and flowers panel is popped up using scrap rubber to add more dimension.
